Samsung Galaxy A82 live shots leak, reveal familiar design

12 April 2021
The camera setup is in line with the current trend, but nothing like the Galaxy A80 flip camera.

Hemedans, 12 Apr 2021Both are Good, we need Both Xiaomi and Samsung in my opinio... moreThanks for the reply but I can't agree with you. The build quality of the Samsung A82 is light years behind the poco F3. It's plastic mate. The poco F3 has a premium design and has glass both front and back. I mean are you seriously telling me that because the Samsung uses USB 3.0, it's better? You can use the poco F3 as a gaming console. You can connect any phone to your desktop. USB protocols allow higher throughput of data and higher transmission speeds on different protocols. The Samsung galaxy A82 uses UFS 3.0 whereas the Poco F3 uses 3.1. This means accessing data actually stored on your device is going to be quicker. This surely is more important than the speed of transferring info via USB. Most people don't have laptops and pcs anymore and use cloud storage. We actually don't even know yet for sure what USB protocol is being run on the A82 but even if it has the newer protocol, it's maybe an advantage worth at most 20 quid to the end user. Again I appreciate the response but I still see no foundation for the Samsung costing 250 euros more. In terms of audio, display, video, processing power, charging speeds, memory access protocols and build quality, the poco F3 is superior. I'm guessing that the benchmarks will favour the poco F3 too.

So the S21 is made healer this year, The S21 FE is reportedly making an appearance at some point and now this A82? Whilst theyve made the A52/A72 more desirable?

Apparently the A82 will come fitted with the SD 860, basically the 855 with a new name, why not the 5nm Exynos 1080?

Sad that Samsung decided to drop the camera mechanism. Perhaps sales were too low

I personally disappointed. I thought A80 successor would keep with uninterrupted full display.

The same punch hole, the same camera rectangle on the left ... always the same phone ... from all brands ... 2019 and the innovatives pop ups and the variety of back designs is definitely gone.

sq2013, 12 Apr 2021Here's the funny part of all this. You can buy the poc... moreBoth are Good, we need Both Xiaomi and Samsung in my opinion. Xiaomi give more perfomance per price while Samsung give all around devices.

Just look at Usb 3.0, most flagship and flagship killer from Samsung like S20 Fe have usb 3+, means you get more bandwidth from your phone, with it you can use phone as desktop, you can use docking station, you can just plug hdmi cable without expensive adapter, you can use your phone as gaming console etc. Mi 11 is Xiaomi flagship and doesn't have usb 3, even X3 pro and F3 doesn't have usb 3.

You get better support and build quality from Samsung, better availability worldwide, better display etc.

              That looks unapologetically plastic.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2021Samsung will surely use an inferior display than in poco f3... moreSure, that's where Xiaomi decided not to cut corners, since they look great in specs. Xiaomi decides to cut corners in areas where thing doesn't matter much. Example : Software, Software updates, cameras, image processing, video recording, Ip rating, didn't utilise Full potential of chipset (Poco F3 is Stuck at 4k30fps despite 870). Also, Xiaomi only makes 5% profit per phone for phones below £500. Meanwhile Samsung, i don't know how many profits they make per phone. At this midrange segment, Samsung focuses on areas that aren't notable in spec sheet, but does impact you. Examples : Proper Ip rating, Colour tuning of the screen (classic samsung vivid style), software updates, software, Camera software, Video capabilities, Ultrawide cameras, Macro cameras and depth sensor. Samsung pays more attention to these types of things, which isn't at specs, but sure is expensive.

sq2013, 12 Apr 2021Here's the funny part of all this. You can buy the poc... moreSoftware support. Samsung has supported software updates of 3 years and 4 years of security updates. While Xiaomi only provides 2 years of updates and 3 years of security updates. So it costs more. Xiaomi also makes ads on its software, so they can make money from there.

Cameras. Samsung phones put OIS on them. Ois is an expensive technology. And the ultrawide camera is 12 MP, so not an 8 MP bad ultrawide lens like most chinese brands. Their macro and depth sensor is also 5 MP, so it is superior and more expensive. Not only that, Samsung has invested more into image processing more than Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme. It is proven by the fact that chinese phones didn't maximize their hardware like Samsung did. For example, Samsung allows 4k recording from main, ultrawide, and selfie camera. And all are stabilized, unlike Xiaomi's 4k video on the Poco F3 which is stuck at 4k30fps, no 60fps option. And most chinese phones are 1080p 30fps on front. This may not seem expensive, but the amount of time tuning and adding stabilization, colours, white balance, resolution options are expensive too.

As for screen, i believe they are the same quality since all are samsung made oled panels.

Haptics, Glass back, fast charging, Metal Frame is where Xiaomi decides to not sacrifice money.

Ip rating at IP67 costs $20 to seal the whole phone in rubber tightly, and another $40 for certification, which is expensive. Xiaomi only certified for IP53, which costs only $10 per device. And the rubber are tighter on Samsung phones, so it is more expensive.

Conclusion : Xiaomi decides not to cut corners in all Important areas of the phone that are noticeable in the phone spec sheet. And they cut corners in areas that aren't in specs. While Samsung focuses more on small things that aren't as WOW like OIS, video capabilities, camera software, software support, screen colour tuning, proper ip rating. And final reason, Xiaomi only makes 5% profit from their phones below £500. And this is hardly a surprise. I don't know how much Samsung makes profit per phone.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2021Samsung will surely use an inferior display than in poco f3... moreBetter include ip67, cameras(with ois), 3 years of software support, Knox security. And display on Samsung phones will be better because Samsung uses M series display not inferior E series display. And Samsung A82 has curved display which is expensive. Only processor doesn't make a phone.

Here's the funny part of all this. You can buy the poco F3 on AliExpress at a lowest price of 301 euros and the poco X3 pro for a low price of 198 euros. So slightly less than 500 euros combined for phones that have a Snapdragon 870 and 860 respectively. Why does a Samsung phone with a SD860 from Samsung cost more than two phones with a sd870 and sd860? I'm really confused about this. Is there any justification for this. Am I missing something?

The k40 has the best flat display its an E4 1300nits 120 super amoled, and it was given A+ score in display mate
So I am very sure this A82 will surely have inferior display and inferior build with plastic back and frame and it has worse soc (860 4g vs 870 5g)and it will have slower charging speed
So if the price is not more than poco it will be acceptable for one ui lovers, even If it is surely inferior in most aspect, but for people who prefer miui, or just don't like one ui so much, poco f3 is surely better in all these aspect

Around 51,307 RS in India so converted to 575 euros approximately. Is it that much better than the Poco X3 pro which is around 200 euros using the same SD860? Typical Samsung. For a moment I thought a mid ranger with flagship power for a reasonable price. It actually costs over 200 euros more than the poco F3 and it's just not a better phone. They can't help themselves. They have to overprice everything. They are just android's alternative to Apple. You can buy phones with a Snapdragon 888 for less than this. I can't understand why people defend this. Does anyone else realize that they're just completely ripping off consumers. Pay more and get less.

wich is about the same price as poco f3
Even tho it should be less because it has inferior 860 instead of 870, also it will have a bit inferior display, because the k40 has the best flat screen, also it will have slower charging and plastic back and plastic frame
but we know this is samsung not poco so it cannot be less than poco f3, maybe same price
If the price is the same as poco f3, I will still go with poco f3, but for people who like one ui They may get the inferior product but with their one ui
So it depends on software preferences

"The front appears to have 2.5D curved sides"
Or maybe this is just a poorly attached glass screen protector. Look at the lower left side and you'll see a point where the reflection does not fully cover the screen itself (or so it seems to me).

Many glass protectors have curved sides so that they don't cut your fingers. Personally, I expect A82 to have a flat screen.

A82 by the leaker, it appears to come so close to A72 in term of external appearance. If Samsung increase size to 6.9" and 5000+ Amh, it will sit in a new position of the market segment.
