Not everyone trusts US and its capitalists. They just have no alternative.
And even if there is no progress outside China, even then remember that it is the same country whose population made Huawei overtake Samsung in June 2020

I believe Huawei can disrupt the current duopoly. With the push from the communist authoritarian administration plus the existing dumb consumers then HarmonyOS might become a hit.

It is funny how many people are comparing Microsoft with huawei. The scale of both of them is simply not compatible.

these numbers are worthless. unless there is proper app support, why use harmony OS? I can list my top 20 apps and I bet they won't support HarmonyOS for at least 3 years

Look what happened to WP, developers found it too much trouble to make an app for 3 different operating systems, so they didn't develop much for WP, even though Microsoft was willing to pay developers to do so. Hence the cause that it didn't take off. Not enough apps = no customers = developers don't want to make apps = not enough apps = no customers = developers don't want to make apps, and the virtuous circle is round. Huawei will face the same issue, just like every other new OS will.
