If I'm in Europe or the US, I'm going to buy a used phone from Europe or the US, not India or China, so that point is moot. And if you think anecdotal evidence is more accurate than actual studies, in pretty much all of Europe used iPhones are sold at prices much closer to their launch ones in comparison to Samsungs at the same point in their life cycles.

Lack of service centers, lack of qualified people running their smartphone department, lack of availability of phones and parts as well making overall repair expensive. 10 years back, I could have trusted Sony as it has some kind of market presence, sadly today no one cares for Sony. Chinese brands have established their trust in the hearts of people. Only people in denial are salty Sony boyzzzzz who can't let go of their past glory lyk u said

When it comes to Android devices, Samsung is the best at holding value, but it's not even close to Apple. In 12 months, Samsung devices lose 64 percent of their original price. After two years, they'll lose an average of 76 percent. Your experience is anecdotal and doesn't hold much meaning.

They do not have interest of usin... more"They do not have interest of using on their Pro Gear nor for xperia"
It's pretty obvious at this point that Sony is treating Xperia 1/5 lineup as a companion device for pro photographers rather than as a professional camera itself. For ILCs with large sensors Quad Bayer doesn't make a lot of sense, but for a mere companion device? I think having extra resolution helps a lot more than it hurts, since you will be using a digital zoom A LOT if you try to use it in exactly the way you handle a dedicated camera.
"Just a way to milk money out of the other. Quadbayer are cheaper to make"
The sensor cost is generally proportional to the sensor area, not an inverse of the amount of pixels that you cram in per area.

The effective value depreciation is around 50% just like rest of the smartphone world.

Initial thoughts:
- Very good phones (great screens, processors, software, features)
- Not good prices (no price cuts, low availability)
- Must have features (IP68, microSD, Headphone Jack, Front-firing stereo loudspeakers)
- Disappointing rounded body on X5.3 (the X1.3 has awesome angular body)
- Mediocre cameras (competitive for early 2020, not for late 2021, PRO-features are cool)
- Wondering if there's display options for resolution and frame rate (ie To extend battery life)
....I'd like to buy the X5.3 but not a fan of the rounded body (or lack of Corning Victus) and lack of Wireless Charging. Moving up to the X1.3 now I'm not sure if it's too big, and expecting more battery capacity, and sharper camera at this size.
...then there's the elephant in the room that is 2022: the start of a new AndroidOS version running a new architecture ARMv9. It might be a case akin to buying a Snapdragon 805 (32bit/Android 4.4/Nexus 6) when the Snapdragon 820 (64bit/Android 5.1/Axon 7) launches afterward. So it might be worth waiting for the X5.4 or the X1.4 instead of these ones.

Something is fishy here. Reminds me of the lie that Sony had stated about the PS5s bandwidth for 2.1 hdmi is actually limited to ONLY 32GB/s vs XSX 40GB/s!
The SD 888 can only render up to 4K 60, on Qualcomm's white paper, but Sony is claiming... again... that the Xperia 1 lll can render 4K@120, something that is not true or announced by Qualcomm.
