This phone is going to have the highest binned version of the Tegra 3 processor. An xda developer figured out that the CPU of the One X comes in different quality variants. The highest quality variant can run stably at the speeds of the One X+. So with a custom kernel, rooted One X users can see One X+ speeds on their phones if they have the right CPU variant.

ka, 28 Sep 2012I've use HTC desire HD but battery lasts 2-3 hours. I love ... moreI've got Desire HD as well, and battery is ok if you have screen set on medium brightness and wifi off. If I spend an hour playing backstab or similar, then yes, battery life sucks, otherwise not too bad.

Shame though, they do need to keep offering fresh products but I wonder if it would be better for them to build up some kind of name for their top model rather than just replacing it. Apple only offer one new phone every couple of years, it's their only entry into the market, yet this works for them. Everyone knows the iPhone and unfortunately not everyone knows the Sensation XE, Sensation XL, One X, One XL, One X+ ... some manufacturers complicate their model line-up too much.

This phone seems very exciting, although I wish I HTC wouldn't keep making their top-spec models obsolete every few months. It would be better if they could release software for existing models to tweak the performance, perhaps offer an overclock option. I wonder if HTC's (apparent) planned obsolescence is affecting their sales.
