Earlier maps and other apps would constantly track you, even if you GPS was disabled. Now they will record you videos even when the screen is switched off. And you can't even cover the camera with something including a removable ink.

Pretty sure both Samsung and the late LG already have the under display camera since last year.
Its just have crappy quality so they give it some more time to develop until it reach the desirable quality.
ZTE saw the crappy under display camera and gone "FIRST".

Well these are definitely a good news but it takes several years until the underdisplay camera will be equal in quality and screen view as a niormal front middle or punmch hole camera.

Anonymous, 19 Apr 2021Top and bottom bezels are historic now. The design is old a... moreThere's nothing wrong with top and bottom bezels quite frankly. Just few weeks ago I fired up my old Huawei Ascend P7 and despite its larger top and bottom bezels, it felt pretty good. If someone just made those bezels as thin to accomodate speaker and all the sensors and it would be perfectly fine.

what exactly was wrong with the selfie camera and other sensors embedded into a small bezel at the top. it was PERFECT. cant believe users get attracted to these disturbing notches, ugly punch holes on the display.

Just another way to fix something that's not broken.
I've had a lot of issues with my Xperia 1 ii but the design is spot on, the answer to all this pop-up/notch/punch hole nonsense is the bezel - there was never anything wrong with it because it is not part of the display.
This is just another waste of investment.

If they can do it without ANY visible difference in display, regardless of what kind of selfies it makes, I'm all for it. ZTE's attempt was noteworthy, but that visible square at some angles would probably drive me nuts more than a permanently visible bigger notch.
