I would rather get the 11 or the 12.9 instead of foldable phones. Besides, they're priced the same. And yep, Apple tablets are number one -- haters don't know this fact. LOL

Mediatek sux, 21 Apr 2021Pretty sure cinebench isnt a useless benchmark.Did you even bother to take some courses on particular field before placing such statement? No. Benchmarks have nothing to do when the software is made for a specific ISA. Cinebench r23 m1 arm version and r23 x86 are not the same. Even after emulation, he 50% performance gain isn't the true image of architecture's abilities.. Apple knows well to pay developers to optimise their applications. And that's how their products perform on synthetic benchmarks. In true heavy application, M1 can't close to any high end x86 cpus.. Such as 3d rendering, gfx workloads (cgi and vfx making), phys simulation, pre mining preparation and so on..

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2021I for one have never seen anyone use an iPad Pro for work. ... moreAt school where I work everybody is using Windows laptops except me who I use an iPad Pro. I very often see them carrying their heavy PCs from classroom to classroom and I laugh because their computers are huge compare to my iPad. I use an Apple TV to connect to the classroom TV, Apple TV is so small that I can put it in my pocket when go to find next class. When connected to the Apple TV I’m free to walk around the classroom, I use the camera to take pictures of the textbooks I teach and by showing the text on the tv the students follow the class better, I can use the Apple Pencil to hand write things using the TV as a secondary board, then I have all my material right there if I need something, I even show a students work through the camera on the tv to explain the class a mistake... it makes my class so much better than a laptop tethered to the TV like my colleagues. Despite that they still believe that iPad is a toy and laptops are the right way. At least one has already seen the light and now uses an iPad too. My students , the young generation! , love the iPad and enjoy the class better than PCs It’s a matter of 10 years before nobody would see laptops at work. Until this old pc generation moves away.

Almand, 21 Apr 2021Are you kidding? There is no way the M1 can even come close... moreApple M1 literally destroys even sd 888 and sq2 by a massive margin. It is capable of competing with intel 10th gen i7 and ryzen 4000 laptop processors, although comparing them is hard and often avoided because of different architecture.
Though on an ipad this would throttle a lot, but even then it should outperform Snapdragon 888.
The only major con is the ipados, which is terrible and cannot utilise the potential of M1. If it came with macOS then it would have been awesome.

Almand, 21 Apr 2021Are you kidding? There is no way the M1 can even come close... moreM1 is going against desktop Ryzen chips, not mobile Snapdragon chips... It's probably going to be thermally and power constrained in tablet, but it's still an M1.

Honestly, I don't think we'll be seeing macbook air 12-13 anymore. This new iPad 13 kills the concept of airs by having same chip and ability to run newest generation of apple software. I haven't used apple products since I bought galaxy s4, but this 13 inch ipad pro at ~1200$ is very compelling to replace both my tablet and working laptop. Intel stocks didn't react xD

the price is shocking, especially given how restrictive apple mobile devices are, I would rather stick with my M1 macbook pro at those prices $150 extra for 5G, $200 for an extra 128gb of storage? storage is NOT that expensive, especially at that size, there is nothing pro about these ipads except the price, although it does have a few neat new features granted

Clearly you have little experience.

Now, with these new iPad Pro's, they definitely got the hardware too. And especially the 12.9" model, no other tablet comes close to it now (probably not in the near future too).
And the price is not that bad either, for what you are getting. I mean, they already appeared in my country (with a predictive price) and the 12.9" iPad Pro is close to the MacBook Air with M1 chip. But you get a better device with the iPad Pro.
Of course is not for everybody and definitely not only for media consumption. You got the entry level iPad and the iPad Air for that.
