My Samsung Galaxy J7 prime is almost 7 years old. But still running strong, battery wise as I have not seen any deterioration with it.

"Instead of throwing them away or recycling"... But who? This has to be a first world joke. Who would throw away a nice S/note 9, 10 or 20 in the first place ?

All old samsung phones have completly drained up battery. Even if you charge the phone to 100% the battery will not even last 45 mins on screen time.

For these old phones to actually work as smarthome devices they're gonna need permanent power. Meaning those sealed batteries will bloat and become a fire hazard. Let me rephrase it:
Samsung have found an easy way to do two things at once using your previous Note and S series:
1. Constantly collect data.
2. Make you treat previous devices as not fit to be used as smartphones (make them obsolete)
Now both of these can be further subdivided, but at the end they will definitely use their influence to persuade owners of these devices to fall in to trap.

Samsung calling its smartphones above Android 9 as old and reusable.
While I'm using Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 on Android 6 as my primary phone. 😑

Besides, swelling removable batteries are easier to detect. These newer sealed ones are designed in a way the phones have a chance to be wrecked during repairs.

Only the newest phones are supported. Unless you replace your phone every year, this is pretty much worthless.
