For media consumption you have the entry level iPad or the iPad Air. As for gaming, I don’t understand why people are comparing an iPad to a gaming laptop. Maybe because of the M1 chip. But no person who is looking to buy a gaming laptop, will consider as an alternative an iPad or any tablet for that matter.
Ipad Pro is targeted mainly at professionals (photographers, artists, video editing people, etc.) who want the best display, a powerful chip and very good battery life.
Stop comparing different devices for different purposes, just to satisfy your curiosities.

The former is much more appealing if you're an illustrator/photographer (due to its display), but the latter crushes the former in gaming.

Airtag is announced only after it has reached all the countries market to sold after a week. Smarttag is not even available in most big market even after months. They just rushed announcement after hearing rumours of airtag.

So yeah for battery conscious users ipad is great, but its just ipad, good for youtube and media comsumption, any gaming laptop would do way more than ipad can, its just simple ipad is not capable device in software even now it has laptop level hardware.

Any system in which you play heavy graphics game is bound to get hot.
Although I give credit to Apple for introducing M1 chips. At least because of them, other companies will also try to make the chips better especially in ARM department

You get a hot device 2070 that is slim and hot or heavier laptop that has poor battery
The M1 is cold, and gpu is around the 1050Ti/ Vega 20 performance, so a little less powerful...but you are getting a 9-10h non stop usage , a cold, better looking device with an app store far more rich meant for the ipad specifically
