Atrix 4G, 02 Oct 2012Ok but what exactly can update to ICS or JB for our Atrix 4... moreNothing really, that's why I don't get the hype about it.
Sure a new version of blur or switch UI, but there are still much better third party launchers available.
If one , as Yani, feels that gingerbread feels like iOS 6 (what!?), which still looks just about exactly the same as iOS 2 in it's main user interface, then get a ICS launcher etc. Still not the best choice of launcher designs nor functions in my opinion.
Same apps can be run, same games and just about any launcher, widget, dialler and so on that one wants! :)

I feel your pain Motorola customers, same thing with Scamsung!
Now you're stuck with Gingerbread that almost feels like iOS6 (GB is still better!) :(
At least iOS6 users might expect some software updates.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2012So Pathetic Endroid fans try to sell custom ROM as solution... moreNo one is saying that customs ROMs is *the solution*, but on possible solution for those who desperately wants a newer OS version with jsut about no new features that aren't already available as third party apps.
Still running same apps as even on 2.2 and still not using stock Android launcher.
Some people here really over do the importance of OS version. If all apps suddenly stopped supporting GB I would understand it, but that's not the case.

HW does not change during a update.

Sandy, 02 Oct 2012Thank god i got ics update on my atrix 2, otherwise i would... moreGingerbread was ugly? You do realise you can make it look anyway you want to right? Unlike the locked UI of the Nokias you're refering to. For crying out loud you can get a WP8 style launcer, dialler and message app.
As one of those who have received ICS I can inform of the following: Texting still works exactly the same, calling is exactly the same, facebook is exactly the same, google maps is exactly the same, media apps are exactly the same and all third party apps and games I've ever used are exactly the same with the same support.
Don't like your launcher - stock GB, ICS or JB - change it.
Don't like your dialler- stock GB, ICS or JB - change it
Don't like your SMS/MMS app - stock GB, ICS or JB - change it.
Don't like your lock screen - stock GB, ICS or JB - change it.
Don't like your media player - stock GB, ICS or JB - change it.
Never really mattered to me what version I had, as long is it supports the apps I needed.
Get a custom ROM if you want it so badly, be happy for a few days and then realise that nothing really changed at all :p
If you want a change, get a new launcher and/or widgets, it's a bigger change than going from stock GB to stock ICS or JB. Nova Launcher Prime was recently on sale, TSF have free stable beta available and there are many free at google play as well.
Even my moms Motoluxe (on GB) has got LauncherPro with pink on white switchpro widgets and white on pink T9 keyboard. You can get/make any style you want so don't go complaining about the looks of GB ;)
GB with ICS style launcher and datamanger free app gives you just about everything that feels new with ICS, and you get to keep the in-pocket recognition which for some reason has been removed in ICS (at least on RAZR).
Media players such as 3 and doubleTwist outperforms the stock player - by far.

Moto simply cleared all the stock of Photon by promising ICS update. People bought it because they knew ICS will be released but... Moto gave statement that ICS is not properly handled by this Phone's hardware... They might forgot that we have at xda better developers then Moto.. Moto simply needs to give us library/sounce files and ofcourse an unlocked boot loader... if any body can help us in this regard will be appreciated a lot...
