Anonymous, 30 Sep 2012There must be some problems while upgrading to ICS fr origi... moreTegra 2 SoC runs ICS and JB perfectly fine. Just take a look at Galaxy R, ZTE Mimosa X, Sony Tablet S, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Asus Transformer, Asus Slider, Acer Iconia A100, A200, A500 and Motorola Xoom.

People here speak of android as if android wasn't just linux. It's all based and built up on the kernel.
As far as i know, there's no hardware that cannot made work on linux. Hell, even the drivers are minimalistic compared to... say windows.
What i think motorola found difficult to achieve and make work is the communications.
The only thing that makes my atrix different from any other android phone is the fingerprint reader and then, communications platform with the dock.
Still, i can't start to think what would be so difficult about that!!!
People have offered to work on a rom for free if Motorola agreed to release it's proprietary crap and give the go ahead, that is, let people do it.
I know ubuntu runs on motorola, hell it runs a lot better than android and it makes your phone work like a full-fledged, dedicated computer.
You could install xfce/xubuntu which will boggle your mind with it's 100MB RAM(max) working power whilst android needs at least 250MB RAM at all times just to run the core components.
It's information like this that makes it all seem even more ridiculous when they just decide, out of the blue, not to upgrade these devices. Because you don't really need manpower in sense of numbers; you only need one linux nerd to do it all; and the community has offered to do it for free. What's stopping them? Motorola.
They're goners. Big time. They should go back to making walkie-talkies. Even ZTE or Huawei beats the crap out of them; design, hardware(software), and price wise.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2012its the same with htc desire hd stuck on gingerbread withou... moreIt is not the same, Atrix has dual-core Cortex-A9, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB mem. Desire HD has an old single core CPU, less ram and tiny internal storage.

Samsung is way better at least they update their flagship phones S2/Note still getting JB and they already got ICS
Motorola makes really good phones i tried Atrix 4G its really perfect except they decided to kill it! What a shame, Even better than LG but now seems LG has better commitment than Motorola.
*Motorola just make a phone per year like IPhone.

Have also big issues.
Motorola SHOULD have an
unlocked bootloader.
Then XDA will work for them.
BUT Google the owner is sleeping.
It become just another lazy giant.
The future of giants will be explained
better in few months/year by Nokia.
How nice they fail.

Even LG is better than Motorola, they are providing ICS for Optimus 2X which is first Dual core phone came before Atrix. Atrix is a World's First Dual Core Phone with 1GB RAM.
Luckily i told my Atrix. And will not buy Motorola device again.

looks to me like google plans on shutting down motorola mobile devision soon and use the infrastructure and human resource at starting their own company of mobile phones on the lines of nexus.

As an Atrix user, I will definitely show the middle finger to Motofail next time I buy a phone!
This is the best way to lose hardly owned customers, congrats Motofail!

Arif, 29 Sep 2012I don't see why the Motorola ATRIX 4G has to suffer. It is ... moreWe paid for Atrix and not it's Motorola's turn: Motorola will pay for this. We will never buy a Moto phone and we'll never recommend it to anyone. Seriously, why should we recommend it? Motorola will never be a contender, with this type of CustomerCare it's destined to lose.

[deleted post]Well done! I am not a Motorola owner however this needs to be supported!
All Motorola owners should get behind this as it could have your device that doesn't get supported with a future update that it should. Help send most Motorola a firm message.
All android supporters should back this as well, sending a clear message to Google to put pressure on manufacturers to keep with promised updates.
