Why should I make a list because you can't accept facts???
Operating on lower profit margins was indeed the modus operandi for most of these Chinese companies back in the day. This is a well known fact.
Some of them like LeEco and others failed while Xiaomi survived.

Your high profit margin strategy of companies like Sony, LG and HTC is directly responsible for their near exit from the smartphone world, as Chinese companies kept eating up their sales, slowly over the years before establishing themselves as Giants in the industry.

Android-Authority, 23 Apr 2021Wow good job twisting what he said, where did he say they w... moreMake a list of all companies that could survive working within 2-3% profit margin.
I am more than sure you cannot. This does not exist.
      Not even small business.

You need to spend X dollars of R&D. More Y dollars for the components and Z dollars to manufacture, advertise, pay royalties, taxes, certifications and spread your product.

If for example Y + Z = $400, you still need to sell at least N units just to recover the X. Your not gonna be able to do it by selling for $405 each unit of your product.

This is how other OEMs have lost money for years and many of them are gone.

Operating costs are not just the X, Y and Z above.
Employees, operating costs of the facilities, investors, taxes etc ..

Also, You guys should forget these youtubers.
They are gonna say what the PR of companies want, if they want to keep getting free stuff to review.

      - Easy to find youtubers that refuse to comment the downgrades performed by Samsung, making 21/21+ worse than 20/20+. Or lack of accessories in the box.
      - Easy to find the ones that did what they could to make people believe exynos 2100 is on pair with SD888.
      - The ones that use the software update policy of Apple to justify higher price despite much inferior device.
      - the ones that think price should be according to brand or sales, not according to the product. Mi 11 Ultra is better than S21 Ultra and xiaomi has the right to charge same or more for it.

Best of all, people that bashed LG phones for years now "feel sorry" for their departure.
V60 is not any worse than iphone 12 or S20 FE. It has more advantages than disadvantages over both.
How many of them cared to say?

Want to watch a real review?

      - Look out for someone that uses tools to measure how accurate screen is, not just chat about resolution, hertz and nits.
      - Audio review that is not just about being stereo or mono and loudness
      - Camera review that is not just about background exposure and colours
      - Performance that shows how well phone can keep up during many different tasks, not just that Genshi game or stupidly running antutu 5 times in sequence.

My father that zero knowledge about tech does not even know his phone has OS called android can do review and say what these guys say.

The hardware is inferior--- inferior screen, inferior camera hardware, smaller lower quality batteries cost less. The A14 chip is homegrown, so it costs less. Also iPhones 12 sold a lot more than Mi 11, all the hardware when ordered in bulk costs less.
Mi 11 BOM is much higher.

Xiaomi were operating on lower profit margins in their initial years. Literally everyone knows that. How about you do some research before becoming a laughing stock over here.

Trust me.... Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra wins in almost every department.
Only thing I can think in favor of the S21 Ultra are looks and slightly better performance on zoom in daytime.

Now reports have come out showing that Sammy downclocked CPU and gpu out of the box to prevent overheating which ultimately affects in gaming and some benchmark numbers.
                Also improves battery life slightly.

The company that needs to sell phones to survive would sell their main products at loss for 5-6 years? LOL ...

Even those that have other businesses to cover losses of mobile sector would not accept losses for that long without changing the situation. LG is best example.

If old phones like Galaxy S7 had BoM of $255 with QHD oled, 1/2.6" dual pixel camera, IP68, heart monitor sensor. The final cost was surely over $300 per unit , now imagine how much cheaper was mi5 that was announced in India for $375.
You think a device like mi5 had similar final cost with much inferior hardware than s7? Because for 2% , the cost would have to be about $ 367,50.

                    Is dirt wet now?

                    Bahahaha!

Do not call from buying cheapos to so-called wannabe premium brand fans of anything over night.

Xiaomi "user base" is based on very cheap low-scaled products for years until early 2020, it decided to target Huawei's "fans" and state-owned funded contracts that Huawei had before the US embargo and knew that Huawei would not recover from there troubles.

Xiaomi is only attaching "fans" to its crap products only due to fake news before OPPO, VIVO, One Plus snatch up the remaining market that Huawei left behind, and with its showing, it should be OPPO that should take the lead now in China/globally after Huawei.

OPPO products tremendously excels over cheapo Xiaomi that's trying to get rich overnight.

The only petty issue with OPPO is its stupid high pricing, a few quirks in software/hardware, CS, and AVAILABILITY, all very small issues that OPPO could change fast.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2021Those who prefers brands over valuesXiaomi is India's no.1 brand and they also offer value.

Just Coz there are overpriced phones on the market doesn't mean they are better.
People who buy based on brand Logo are lame. Only they are ready to use an inferior product for a higher price.

I judge a product based on how good it really is. Brand name doesn't matter for me.
I am not interested in spending above Rs.100k for an inferior product. I made that mistake with the iPhone 11 pro Max after lot of hype and reviews. Was disappointed eventually.

I am not married to a particular brand. My loyalty is towards the best overall product on the market. I am not using subpar hardware and software of iPhone just because it is expensive or comes from Apple.
Last year, I was looking forward to S20 ultra. But after the Exynos disaster, I was in no mood to pay Rs.97k for S20 ultra. Then waited for the Find X2 pro which never released in my country. So opted for the OnePlus 8 pro which is basically the same phone minus periscope lens and 30W charging instead of 65W. Paid 60k for that.

Would have happily paid 100k and above for that. People like you would think it's not fair to spend 100k on OnePlus, because it's Chinese brand. I have no such misconceptions and I don't buy based on brand Name but the quality of the product itself.

Many companies in multiple sectors go through losses initially, then start to make a profit later after expansion and getting recognized.
You certainly don't know about CEO's or business in general.
Not everyone follows the Apple strategy.

I was ready to pay Rs.100k for this phone as it is the only phone worth paying 1 Lac and above for, apart from the foldables.

Rs.70k for the base variant?? That is insane pricing... Wow Xiaomi!!! Just take my money!!!

Although I have my eyes set on the Special Marble white edition. Anyone knows when that
                          will launch in India?

While arguably these all products are still a solid deal, they're a far cry from what's normally expected from Xiaomi.

This is a typical trick adopted by any chinese manufacturer- they enter with cheap products and end up with higher priced ones, doing even offline sales and TV/ Cinema advertising, even though it increases costs.
Both Mi and oneplus have their expanding and loyal fan base so what else do they need?

                              LOL, do not be innocent.
No CEO on Earth would allow that.
No one would on purpose sell at loss for years just to spread their products.

Xiaomi phones cost much less than non-chinese phones to be made.
BoM of mi11 is just $350, just like iphone 12.
Old phones like mi6/mi8 probably did not cost more than $250 to be made.
