Weekly poll results: Sony's Xperia Mark III lineup excites, a price cut may take it a long way

25 April 2021
With unique features and a design that doesn't follow the mainstream, these three could be a success - but the price is a bit high.

Whatever the other people said like about the Mark III, either bad or good things here, or straight down hell or heaven of their wordings, especially the Xperia 1 Mark III, and everything between it, or even descending to re-route someone's choice to their faves, whatever the phone it is, it's solid rock decision for me to purchase Xperia 1 III as my XZ Premium as it still inherits majority things I loved about XZ Premium since Day 1 that still available in 1 III, especially when I'm finding a very versatile phone in fundamental features that not all flagships offer nowadays. IDC if I'm not the majority here or not choosing the best option here, I stand by my choice. And no, I used Xiaomi in the past (it was great, but Sony caters to my requirements better). End of story.

You know that those features are mostly made possible by Bionz X processor and not the sensor itself, right? A QB sensor with fast enough readout speed would do the job equally well, or even better if Sony decided to implement the omnidirectional AF onto it.

Yeah the person who said that literally compared it to Xperia Z3+ which had a laughable battery life. I'll wait until GSMArena receives the review unit and publishes the test results, thanks.

Meanwhile go check Xperia forums as to how many issues are present on Xperia phones from last year.
Also Xperia phones hardly sell, so less number of devices have issues..
Xiaomi, Samsung Apple sell a lot more, so number of devices with issue is higher.

Anonymous, 26 Apr 2021Quadbayer sensors are much cheaper to make. All then are G... moreYour theory that Quad Bayer sensors are manufactured using so-called 2nd gen. technology is a pure BS if you don't cite any source for it. Post a link where Sony clearly states so or you're just flat out lying for the sake of defending your favourite company, as always.

"No device is in the end using real time HDR, otherwise none of them would need to stack frames"
Uh, hello? Mi 11 Ultra? My P30 is also capable of showing the real time preview in HDR for its front camera.

"weird that there has not been any Photocamera or videocamera with this tech"
Photocameras don't need QB since the sensor is large enough to the point where you can cram in more pixels while ensuring good light sensitivity without resorting to pixel binning. It's also pointless on camcorders since people don't try to take a photo with them.
Seriously, how many times do I need to explain this to you, the tech works the best in smartphones due to their space constraints. Stop repeating the same arguments while ignoring people who oppose you.

Take out your Xperia 1 II and pit it against P40/Mate 40 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra at their respective 2x magnification and you'll see how useful Quad Bayer really is.

Anonymous, 26 Apr 2021Then you should have told your Sony to bring a bigger main ... moreEh, dude, IMX557 on Mark III is still considered an upper-ranger sensor as it's currently the biggest non-Quad-Bayer Sensor & currently the biggest 12 MP sensor for smartphone, of course since Nokia days. Sure, it's cheaper than IMX689 or IMX700 that are more exclusive and special, but even IMX557 is one of the kind due to the reason as I said, plus the way that the sensor enables Sony's most highlighting features, 20fps AF/AE burst-mode & Real-Time Tracking Eye AF. Probably Sony will move into Quad-Bayer when if Sony knows & figures how to implement both their 20fps AF/AE burst-mode and Real-Time Tracking AF in Quad Bayer Sensor without much hesitation to convert from Single Bayer of their Alpha to Quad Bayer sensor, as the readout sensor is very important and the just a slight difference that QB inherits will make everything different.

This is why Sony , Samsung and Omnivision are pushing that crap. Much easier to make more profits out of them. Samsung Semicon is even working on 0.6 micron pixel sensors.

No device is in the end using real time HDR, otherwise none of them would need to stack frames. Single one would be enough.

Not even from other companies that use exmor like Nikon, Panasonic, Leica, Hasselblad, Ricoh, Pentax, Olympus and Fuji.
