Rest videos are mostly player on 240p or max 360p which is enough for me.
Now every video starts with 240p and has to set it manually.
Short solution is use the crome page.
Some benefits.
1. It is clutter free. No annoying pop up ads.
2. It remembers the resolution. So, if I am watching news live streaming and jumps to another channel, I don't need to worry about the resolution.
3. Sometimes I started to watch a video on my Poco F1 (like a old movie about 1 hour or more), paused it and then watch it on the laptop later. So, the crome also remembers the resolution there also.
Overall, now I will use the crome more.

rizki1, 25 Apr 2021144p is really bad quality, i cant watch it too long.It is still enough for a phone while watching news or a old favourite song which you already watched million times. Or play the song of "Car Music" channel were video has minimum clips.

Google breaking something that worked, yet again! We need an alternative for YouTube with the horrible commercials every 5 seconds! It's unwatchable at this point! The idiots at Google keep killing YouTube!

Data saver playing @ 240p/144p
What I want is 360p/480p
So I have to go to advanced and select preferred one.
Even worse it doesn't remember it for next video.
So repeat this on every video :(

This is not good enough. They should allow people to lock to a certain playback quality. The idea of high resolution, automatic, low resolution is just dumb. I'd want to lock my videos at 480p throughout and if that resolution is not there, then let it fall back to auto mode or the resolution below 480p like 360p. You set it on automatic and the thing jumps to 1080p eating your metered data plan. You pick low resolution or data saver and it gets stuck at 144p.

I spend a lot of time on youtube with audio-only over 4g, so that menu should be sensitive whether you are over a metered or unmetered connection. On unmetered I don't really care too much, but on metered I wish i could force minimum resolution always unless I click otherwise.

I need past setting because after auto Play videos video Play high resolution
