Anonymous, 24 Apr 2021Is Google copying samsung here?Stock ROM skips practically all the useful features that are more likely to be present on other Android skins (irrespective of whether they are light or heavy skins).

People who brag about stock ROM being better usually lack experience of using different Android skins (especially skins from 2020-21).
I run my own shop selling phones from different brands, so I know what I am talking about.

In 2021, I'll rather use one ui, miui, zen ui based Androids over stock OS which lacks latest features and is basically playing catchup.

Design wise, it's actually a lot of changes. For instance, the icon is a bit bigger and margin between icon and text is lil bit larger as well. The expanding arrow is now wrapped with background and the notification text is now aligned with the title, leaving only the app icon on the left.

Rounded corners? Looks cool. Soon Windows 10 will get rounded corners too.

yo google go design android again like its true to its roots

the status bar is quite atrocious, ever since they tried to copy the ios style status bar (time on the left, battery, internet and signal on the right) it has gone downhill

we would love it so much if they gone back to the old type of status bar (everything on the right, notifications on the left)

and it looks so bad when you have a side punch hole with the time on the left, the ui elements get shifted just for the punch hole, i'd rather have the notifs shifted instead of the time

also making this one ui like makes no sense

i thought google is really trying to be "independent" with their designs now everybody is copying oneui

Every android OEM will be One UI design after all
From notification to settings in each OEM android skins
