And next year it will be used in redmi note 11 or 12 like they did with redmi note 10 pro. Imagine a budget phone with high-end camera while other brands sticking with 3 year old camera module on their mid-range and below phone.

Anonymous, 26 Apr 2021Interesting argument. Like what have Apple phones got in th... moreYeah, I think though there is innovation in the chip design as they are designing their own processor which is the most complex part of the phone. Of the Chinese brands Huawei was the only one designing their own processor and ISP but that looks like it's over now with the US sanctions. I think Xiaomi and Oppo will probably move towards designing their own chips in the future though. I think Xiaomi designed their own ISP for the mi mix fold so looks like they are planning to go that way. There have been some other innovations like the periscope zoom lens introduced by Oppo/Huawei, Ryyb lens by Huawei and gimbal technology and first pop-up camera by Vivo. Can't think of anything much innovative from Xiaomi so far but with their current growth they will have a lot more money to spend on R&D so I'd expect them to be a lot more innovative in the future

Having 100mpx on a medium format, insane quality, dynamic range, outstanding detail and huge light absorbing with being able to handle the most insane apertures.
Having 200mpx on a 1/3" sensor is just plain useless and dum, pixel binning wastes so much information, slow reading, low light absorbing due to small pixels and more frames between pixels per surface, loot of space gets lost, worst light transmission for same aperture value, less dynamic range, less energy efficient, tendency to overheat....i don't get it, are we still in 2012 racing for the mix count? It will sell good anyway. No body cares, ppls are just dum

Tarak, 26 Apr 2021Xiaomi really grows from that cheap, iPhone copycat to the ... moreYet this sensor would be a step back from what they current have (an 1/1.12 inch sensor) on Mi ultra.
So if by innovation you mean taking steps back. Then yeah, that's Xiaomi ... occasionally (they did it when they went from the ultra futuristic Mi Mix to Mi Mix 2 which had more bezels lesser specs and worse looks). A wildly inconsistent company (wouldn't touch nothing non ultra from them).

SuuperBaka, 26 Apr 2021Which smartphone? How do you mean which one? Mi11 Ultra of course. Mi11 Ultra will kill the whole camera industry but people don't know about it just yet. As soon as they tweak that beta camera software version that output images that look as same as 2020 flagships they will shut down both Canon and Sony.

I've got a Poco X3 NFC and can't believe how much phone you get for under £200 (UK). Loving the Poco X3 Pro, mi 11 ultra, Poco F3, Mi 11 lite. Would love to see brands like Nokia, HTC, Motorola take a leaf out of Xiaomis book. I think I've become bit of a fanboy lol!
