And it was a really good phone, still it. But this year it could have been a better flipcam phone, even with small upgrades like E4 120hz display, adding back the headphone jack (since 888 takes less space than 865 cuz of integrated modem), maybe same stereo speakers as Zenfone 8, and bringing OIS from Zenfone 7 Pro, since there no Pro variant this year. But I think they didn't want the Flip to be the highlight, since they want to keep the demand low. Eventually they'll phase out the Flip series.

They have pla... moreBoth phones should sell, one has Micro SD slot, the other one has 3.5 mm jack, each phone has their pros and cons, so ASUS will get people to buy both phones, since they won't have to look for another brand, for example, I find the Zenfone 8 more interesting than the OnePlus 9 in many areas, too bad it's just 30W fast charging, have USB 2.0 and inferior rear camera sensors.
The Zenfone 8 Flip is not for me, but some people will probably like the bigger display, the telephoto lens, the ability to use the rear cameras for selfie, display without a punch hole, better stereo speakers, lower refresh rate+bigger battery will make it have great battery life.

And both these Zenfone phones have slow charging and USB 2.0 and lack video output over USB C probably.

I really like these 2 smartphones. Nowdays unfortunately u don't see compact phones or total screens with no holes. Probably Z8 will be my next phone. Kudos Asus!

So, even though Zen8 has a 3.5mm jack, it doesn't have the Sabre dac, just the Qualcomm one. That's a bummer.

I also am sad to not see a ToF or depth camera of any kind included. They are falling out of favor but I think it's being abandoned before their full potential. Mainstream users will not take full advantage of any kind of hardware innovations in general but I still feel it is an essential feature to be included, especially given the high price tags of these phones and the fact that they are positioning themselves on the high end.

The Zenfone 8 Flip is a collector's item. It's released for those who couldn't buy Zenfone 7 last year due unavailability. If Asus wanted, they could make it the best phone, just add headphone jack, use the latest 120hz panel, keep the OIS, and it'd sell like hot cakes. But the truth is, they can't make so many flipcam modules, hence it'll have very low availability this time around too.
