To this day, I have never been impressed with the image processing algorithm from Quad Bayer and Nona Bayer sensors. Some may get the colour science and dynamic range right, but the oversharpening and noise reduction effect is still visible and it really turns me off. To this day, I don't see any modern Android smartphones, especially the flagships, that can truly replace the camera performance of the Nokia 808 PureView or the Nokia Lumia 1020 and also the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, even with a GCam mod.

I'm talking about the fact this sensor is 19mm, a Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra for example is 24mm.

Nick Tegrataker, 18 May 2021Would you mind telling me why top dogs all rely on hybrid s... moreBecause you cannot turn off OIS on cellphones like you can do on photo cameras lenses.
Turn off EIS and stabilization gets much weaker.
See old phones like S9 and U12 that do not have EIS for 4K@60.
      Looks like person is hopping.

EIS applies same amount of crop on all cameras. Usually between 1.1-1.2x.
Ultra Wide always have better stabilization among the three.
      The one without OIS.

If your phone has option to turn off EIS, do the test.
      Record video while walking.
      Video 1 = EIS + OIS
      Video 2 = OIS only

If I remember correctly, it was mostly the period of 2G and early 3G era. That time, the Japanese was way ahead of the world, and they used their own standard as well. But with 4G, thing looks way better. Bit, still, it's up to the phone manufacturers to make their phone support certain 4 G bands.

As far as I know, when I look at the supported frequency / band on KyoEx, most, if not all phone powered by Qualcomm chitset can work perfectly fine on any networks in my country.
I can't say the same for other countries, though.

Sharp now will be putting pressure on Samsung instead of the old Apple,Samsung looks like they are going to offer a bigger camera sensor on there S22 Ultra, but will they now react to this Sharp phone and offer a 240 screen instead of 120,Sharp as offered the micro sd card slot on the R6 will Samsung bring the offer of the card slot on the S22 models now,as they just wondering what Apple offers, which as been very annoying,Olympus is working with Samsung to improve the cameras on the S22 models,so will they offer a large camera sensor like Sharp as?

It's funny how on every single comment section of any phone someone will say "i'll wait for this better phone" or "i'll wait for that better phone" and when "that" better phone releases, this same thing happens again. GSMarena is turning into 9gag.

Poh, 17 May 2021Anyone know what function and restriction I would lose out ... moreGoogle services should be OK, as long as phone has some online capability.
Anyone thinking of importing geographically aimed phones, especially Japanese devices, check very, very carefully that frequencies match perfectly, not nearly, but exactly, and possibly even contact networks to check they continuing with frequencies that work with phone, buy at wrong time and you can suddenly have no connection !!! With networks rolling out 5G,frequencies are being juggled about a lot, so double/triple check usability of device in its intended use country..

But HTC can still rise from the ashes. Most smartphone components (display, imaging sensors, camera lenses, SoCs etc) are all off the shelf pieces. And HTC has been a very successful component maker as well as very successful smartphone maker too. What they solely lack, is will power and great management strategy.

Just check what frequencies a phone can handle and then see if the coms firm in country phone to be used in use some of the same frequencies. Like my mates HTC Butterfly 2,could only work on one network here in the uk.
