Anonymous, 17 May 2021As much as phone might be impressive, Sharp's presence... moreEh, they are OLED and LCD panel producer.
They might not have global smartphone presence, but their new 2000 nits, 1~240hz, OLED screen might be in the next iPhone or other flagship.

As much as phone might be impressive, Sharp's presence globally seems to be pretty much non existent (I heard more about LG than Sharp...). Also their support for software is questionable at best.

I remember long time ago like 2003-2004 I got some weird sharp flap phone with amazing color display inside when others still had those crappy 128px screens on Nokia and SE, I upload every image I could find to it just to show it to friends how cool it looked :D

notafanboy, 17 May 2021Why Japan only? I don't care about 240Hz which is a gi... moreIts not 240hz that matters, its OLED with variable refresh rate capable to shift from 1 to 240hz that greatly matters.
It will affect the battery life and will shift "always on display" feature to the next level.

It's like over a decade ago all good features were for Japanese market only and now seems with Sharp also. But again dont understand why make news out of things that dont ever get in global market.

EskeRahn, 17 May 2021Again Sharp is way ahead. Too bad we seldom see their devic... moreSharp has made some interesting phones in the past, and when it comes to screen technology, they had WVGA resolution back in 2007, when Nokia had only QWGA resolution. :))

According to someone's info, the Aquos R6 is the first smartphone which integrated a SONY Alpha RX0 inside, and seems to start a "Type 1" war in all 2021 flagship.
And SAMSUNG's 300MP Type 1 still developing....

I've been quite disappointed that they didn't use an IGZO IPS display anymore, but now:
- IGZO OLED 240Hz display.
- 5000mAh battery.
- Leica co-developed 1" sensor.
I see some good potential in this phone. If I were live in Japan and becoming a Japanese citizen then I am definitely gonna spare some yens to buy this. Now I hope the price is actually reasonable.

It's a big sensor but it's not actually as useful as the normal multi-camera flagships.
A very strange decision.

Again Sharp is way ahead. Too bad we seldom see their devices get outside Japan....
F1.9 on a 1" sensor is comparable with legendary enthusiast compact cameras like Sony RX100 that in their best variants offers F1.8 with a 1" sensor.
Also people often forget that Sharp had 327ppi years before the Iphones claimed it as a novelty. Back in 2008 they had this https://www.gsmarena.com/sharp_930sh-2768.php
and all the way back in 2006 this with 333ppi https://www.gsmarena.com/sharp_904-1490.php (though the later was VGA only)

A single 19mm FL. Weird choice indeed. First time Sharp produce such a high end phone. And that 1" camera lens, Leica Summicron codename never used below f2.0, Aperture f1.9 should be Summilux, right?
I hope at least having a single 28mm FL. Well they need to control the camera bump I guess, though I dont mind with a lil bump.

Is it's 1" = 16 mm or 1" = 18 mm ?
Is the CMOS from SONY?
Is the Display Panel from sharp itself?
Is the 1Hz~240Hz Display using the perfect seamless VRR like the G-Sync? Or it use the Q-Sync that can running only in some games?
Does it have OIS or Ultra wide angle camera?
The Aquos R6 just so impressive on its spec...
Yes, 128 GB :D
