Oh and the merger wearOs+Tyzen : hahaha can't wait to see look so promising!
Apple would be rip if Samsung / Google would merge best Software/Hardware smartphone division!

My favourite watch design-wise Is the Omega Seamaster Polaris, so something similar flat, but with modern smartwatch functionalities would be the ideal watch for me currently.

There are NO smart-watches with a good ... moreso the message is that you'd prefer a watch along the lines of the semi acceptable listed (band 6) but, thinner, better material and better battery life.. at least as a fist step.

Many fans of Android phones often(ignorantly) denigrate iPhones for their inferior specs. I was amazed to find my Apple Watch 6 to be superior to my Galaxy Watch Active 2 in virtually every department specs-wise.

There are NO smart-watches with a good industrial design (no matter the brand) IMHO.
And this is WORSE than the existing ones. (though you are most likely right that there will be copies)
Some of the least bad existing are in the grey zone of being "smart-bands".
E.g the Huawei band 6. Slighly curved, and with rounded shapes, though still being rather thick.
Unfortunately it only exists as a cheap plastic thing not exactly oozing of exclusive materials. I would have preferred case and band in titatanium, or carbon fibre. And would happily have one not two weeks stamina, if the thickness could be reduced.

iPhone 6 the protruding camera. bad design. Xiaomi Joked about it.. flattening it with a frying pan. Still everyone copies it.
AirPods the toothbrush in your ear. Everyone joked but YET copied it.
So chill. I expect tons of knockoffs will copy this design again. Just like those apple watch clones. Then you will cheer its the best thing ever.
Designing is not the strong suit for most android makers. Only Samsung / Sony make unique stuff.. the rest are cloners.

judging by the new designs of the iPads, the iMacs and the iPhone; its no surprise that all their products will follow this design language. no one is surprised or stricken by the Apple Watch having the square-type design lol. over hype

So.., 20 May 2021So...Apple its in its own league...they cant compete with n... moreIt is true, but having someone to compete against is and will be always good for the consumer. I just hope that the google-samsung agreement will bring new competition even for apple. If that works, all of them will start competing against each other the same way and not take different directions to avoid competing as they are doing right now.

Reply to several. The rounder the shape the less likely it is to be affected by impacts.
This new design is a step in the wrong direction.
(Did not even mention the poor ergonomics nor the nuisance when it is harder for a shirt sleeve to pop back after stretching your arm out - it might look good, but it is not a practical design. Most 'smart watches' are already a pill box on a string, straight edges makes it worse - no matter the brand)
