Shui8, 21 May 2021Mi 11 Ultra camera bump - 12.1mm Pixel 6 Pro camera bump -... moreI would never draw precise conclusions from the size of the camera bump. Even a lens with the same specs can have a different length. Also, the more important issue is the diameter of the lens. That's why they are rectangular. Regarding the angular resolution, the sensor size is irrelevant, but the effective diameter of the lens is extremely important due to diffraction. The 11 Ultra periscope camera has an effective diameter of focal length/f-number = 5.37mm, the Huawei P40 Pro Plus has 6.4mm, the Vivo X60 Pro+ has only 3.47mm. The larger the effective diameter, the more details from distant objects can be theoretically captured, if the sensor has enough pixels. That's why the future "Extremely Large Telescope" will have an effective diameter of 39.3m.

Design is growing on me; I'll admit. If the Xperia 1 Mark iii's battery life doesn't cut it, I might get this along with the I-Blade case so I can get back the MicroSD card and headphone jack.

Unlikely to use 1/2" periscope. Maybe a 1/2.55" max.
But looks like pretty sure this time around Pixel gonna use main sensor bigger than 1/1.5".

I really hope that the 8 megapixel "5x" camera rumor isn't true. A Xiaomi 11 Ultra has a sharp 12 megapixel "5x" camera. An expensive flagship must use the best periscope hardware.

That's the equivalent of losing 1.5hr screen on time.

No wonder they chickened out on higher refresh rate displays last year, as this would have yielded terribly results on every iPhone from the iPhone 12 series except pro Max version.
So happy I switched to Mi 11 Ultra after being on iOS for almost an eternity.

The chip throttles ba... moreAccording to testing, there is 20% extra battery drain caused by 5g since Apple lacks the necessary expertise to bake 5g in the form of a internal modem within their A14 chip.

Even Mediatek has baked in 5g without having to resort to external modem on budget devices.

Apple says they'll adopt internal modem as early as 2023. So basically, Apple users until then, will enjoy excessive battery drain while using 5g while even budget Android phones with 5g will not suffer the same issue. Another failure from trillion dollar company.
