I own the Pixel 4a at the moment and I think it would be extremely hard for them to drop the price anymore for the Pixel 5a, especially if they add extra features like wide angle camera and 90hz screen. You can already get the 4a on sale at £299 from Google and Amazon on occasion.

I wouldn't be opposed to them making the 5a with a newer SOC than the 765G since that's already in the 4a 5G, also make the display 6 inches and add 60hz panel. If they did that I wouldn't mind the price going up as much

Google still isn't there with the SoC. I dislike the Pixel 6 design and even the look of Android 12. Wait a couple more years. Pixel 5 wasn't even as powerful as my Pixel 3 from 2018. So going back to closer to flagship specs with premium build quality is a step back in the right direction.

My Pixel 3 is still the best Pixel ever made. It looked better than the Pixel 4 and didn't have that Face ID nonsense. It's as close to perfect for me in hardware design and software (came with Pie) for a smartphone Battery life really was never weak for me. Just average and sometimes above it. Read the Pixel 4's was worse and so was the display and camera.

YUKI93, 24 May 2021You have a point there. For me, I buy a flagship phone beca... moreAs someone who does plenty of mobile gaming but most of it casual, I wondered if I'd regret going clearly mid-range with the A70 by the end of my two-year contract.

Well, with under six months to go I can say I haven't. There's literally one game I've had any issues with and because it's an autobattler I don't need any sort of FPS for it outside of the less visually demanding bits setting up between battles. Plus it's also got a PC port if I really want to play it on my gaming laptop with higher fidelity.

If I were to get a flagship again it'd be in the hope of getting 3-4 years out of it rather than two. And then battery life becomes the issue (so it'd probably have to be something like the ROG Phone range for their battery management and capacity, and the 5 is a banana while the 3 isn't readily available where I am).

Very good chance my next phone is a Pixel 5a if the price is right. It'll have enough power, I know I'll get timely updates for as long as I'll want to keep it, and I'll almost certainly be able to buy a case for it in my local phone shops (I always keep my phone in a case because I'm clumsy).

Why can't phone manufacturers be adventurous, how about premium fabric or even sail cloth on top of plastic? Or how about glass fibre? Why not metal? I dont want to hear crap about wireless charging, nobody needs wireless charging when you can cable charge so quickly.

Glass is boring and breaks easily...oh wait thats why manufacturers like it! But why do punters like it?

Not only ugly and mediocre but overpriced too.
