Anonymous, 28 May 2021LCD for life. No PWM, no burn ins.-Some LCD uses PWM at very high frequencies
-Burn-in or display retention does exist. For example, Redmi Note 8, Realme 6, etc.

Lol.ivan, 28 May 2021As an artist, why?????? Like there should be a replacement,... moreI do think that this is meant for smartphones and TV screens only as quoted from the first paragraph hyperlink: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_is_ending_its_lcd_production_by_the_end_of_2020-news-42354.php

I thought this involves the LCD panels for laptops as well until I clicked the first hyperlink. It turned out to be just only involving the smartphone screen. Nevertheless, I'm not sure where to like or sad about this. I mean, LCD does use less battery juice than AMOLED and also never suffers from screen burn-in. But in terms of colour vibrance, AMOLED definitely does it better than LCD.

Aldwin123, 28 May 2021People prefer OLED than LCD.Not for medium budget class phones because the users on this segment don't have so much money or don't wanna spend much money to replace the screen if the screen is cracked / fall down.

Note: low budget always using LCD. So I mention for medium budget segment.

kek, 28 May 2021OLED has got nothing against a good LCD, tho.The technology in LCD is reach the finish line, while LED is improving with no limit currently foreseen. If you see that the best LCD is great then LED is beyond great, much more beyond anything you may predict.

The production cost of OLED is getting more and more cheaper while the materials of LCD getting more expensive. As the trend is tend forward to OLED (or mini/microLED), I think this move is reasonable.

As an artist, why?????? Like there should be a replacement, imo they need to make miniLEDs after they discontinue the lcd panels

Better peak brightness, that is super incorrect

I only hear that from people that make this conclusion only based on smartphones

LCD is objectively brighter no competition

good so they stop making those ancient PLS TFT LCD displays with washed out colors and worst display quality
also good news that now samsung is focusing more on OLED display and working with other display makers for their phones :)
