I've jumped between a lot of snap 865 phones last year, and recently got a snap 888-equipped mi 11. The performance uplift isn't worth the increase in power consumption and heat generated. At least the 865/865+/870 is a proven unit, and manufacturers know how to keep its heat in check by now.

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2021Apple's M1 is way better than Qualcomm'sBecause they've micro instructed things and they have an early version of V9. The shared memory and more specific instruction setup has made things much faster. Snapdragon and Exynos should be easily able to replicate and improve upon this, if they plan well.

The Cortex-X2, A710 and A510 are follow ups of the X1, A78 and A55 cores. The A55 was starting to show its age. The A510 c0re is till not really much of an improvement, but more like a stop gap solution. Next year onwards worth the new Sophia architecture, things to look much better.
From anandtech:
"The Cortex A710 (and A510), much like the X2, is an Armv9 core with all new features that come with the new architecture version. Unlike the X2, the A710 also supports EL0 AArch32 execution, and as mentioned in the intro, this was mostly a design choice demanded by customers in the Chinese market where the ecosystem is still slightly lagging behind in moving all applications over to AArch64".
Which means Chinese OEMs need to fine tune their processors to make the best use of the 64-bit architecture, because that would help them work with non-Smapdragon, Exynos and Mediatek processors as well.
This is part of rhe new ARMV9 architecture with with the beq Sophia cores. Though larger leaps in design and performance should be disclosed next year. Hopefully, next years flagships are ready fast enough to employ the new architecture.

Hanif Fikri, 14 Jun 2021no? give source first...That IceUniverse cat from twitter is the only one saying it, that's the source.
But, given that this news says that there are OEM already testing it and TSMC's N4 hasn't even begun risk production, is 95% sure that it will not be from them.

Not really. It will be slightly better than current 5lpp, but still far off N5.
Remember that this, and 5lpp, are refinements of 7lpp, not a new node.

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2021Next snapdragon is TSMC 4nm. I don't think so. Even the next Apple A15 will be 5nm TSMC. Samsung's 5nm is behind the TSMC 5nm. So the Samsung 4nm will be more equally to 5nm TSMC. And with the new arm V9 the successor of SD888 will be much better.
Again the upcoming Android 12 have better performance optimization. So the 2022 flagship devices will perform closer to iPhone 12 Pro.

Plot twist: Qualcomm would introduce SD875 which would be a slight overclock of SD870, SD865+, & SD865.
If only Qualcomm would upgrade the process node as well (to 5 nm), that would be quite dope.
