If 50% increase is true (I don't think lol), it tells how inefficient we are that just integration of two components is giving this much of a boost.

Heating issues at very high performance loads. When flash heats up it's performance deteriorates. Flash itself produces a lot of heat. Good for low end chipsets, or low end gaming phone with massive cooling. Heat has to pass through other layers to get to the cooler (a solution years ago was thermal regulation plane, say piping, which this doesn't have, and on a cheap phone, not such a great idea).

I remember years ago, communicating with somebody from Intel, I think, could have been an engineer, but too long ago to remember. I was talking about processor chips, they said that it made no sense while they could continue to boost clock rates, as the multi processor would boost energy requirements (the people I was around proved that wrong, as running the clock at the native silicon speed, you could make low energy processors and fit maybe 50,000+ in the space of an 888, or 1000's of mid range with more local scratch memory, or hundreds high performance, plus external memories. Intel itself, went with the Intel Israel low energy less clocked technology (I think that was the one) multiprocessor packages). So, it's the same sort of scenario, that too many things together produced much heat, unless you can drastically accommodate or reduce such heat. Two faced cooling with the low heat Intel micron xpoint memory in the middle, instead of flash would do it. Magnetic memory and
Quantum dot cellular automata processors would also do it, as it requires perhaps no special cooling (runs at one million times less energy) is another option, or the beforehand mentioned silicon high density processing arrays designed as the high performance versions, could all reduce heating issues..

Yes cheaper & probably less durable. Cut the ungerdog bye UFS which was even better. Did I say was 😱 rip ufs

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021No. That bad. For pc its different story. I know it will b... moreI disagree that it's bad on PC if it provides a significant performance increase. Even if you just want to upgrade your RAM just know that you'll be re-installing your OS as well. Also, having this integration as an option wouldn't mean that you don't also have the option of doing it the old fashioned way as well. AMD has already been talking about stacking RAM on die like the M1 for a couple years now.

RAM upgrading is very common, usually you buy less capacity and later often you double it. You can upgrade CPUs too for models that, at their release, where too expensive and after some years enough cheap to improve your CPU with a more capable one with more cores and threads using the same motherboard. Idem for graphics cards. PCI express x16 has being the same for years but GPUs has evolved a lot using the same BUS.
