Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021R&D integration has existed for years. OP6 series bas... moreOnePlus has practically never created their own phones (the closest thing is the 7 Pro). Literally from the beginning, the OnePlus One was just a Find 7 rebrand. Most other OnePlus phones until OnePlus 7 series was just based on R line with better processors. The biggest differentiation was excellent software support and close to stock UI that was worlds away from iOS themed Color OS. Now, the software support is just as bad if not worse than other Chinese brands. Color OS and Oxygen OS are pretty close in terms of looks and features in their latest iteration. So, at this point OnePlus is just a brand name.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021lmao you will never ever see $299 oneplus flagship anymore.... moreHow long ago is it since they had $299 flagships? The Oneplus 9pro's official US price is $1069 so it's already over $1,000. The days of $299 flagships I think are gone from any brands

"They got too greedy and Expensive"
Fact.
It was "rip OP" for a long time, since they moved away from their core values.

Might as well! Oppo always made OnePlus phones. Also, since OnePlus stopped being a flagship killer, and went for the flagship PRICE, might as well just kill it off and make one brand, the even more expensive Oppo brand. Had 3. OnePlus 1, 6, 7T
Time to move on. They got too greedy and EXPENSIVE.

In other words, they'd release the same phones with different names in different Markets. Hahaha BBK strategy is funny yet works for them

Looks like ColorOS will be their single UI in the future so that let them use a single team developer team. If first they lost the flagship killer esence, no they'll lose the OxygenOS too. Business... but not for old fans and external developers colaborating. RIP old OnePlus.

Well...they have se... moreWhat "merger", OP have also been owned by OPPO's parent company, BBK, it was just clever marketing that made them appear a stand alone brand. Although, after building up a good reputation under Carl I can't see why they are now seemingly going to destroy the brand.
