No android brand does which makes optimisation more challenging as they are still dependent on Qualcomm or mediatek or Samsung for chips and Google for software. Still wouldn't get an iPhone but I can understand why people do

OnePlus are not known for their transparency.
It makes no sense at all to maintain a second codebase for a tiny percentage of your sales, they'll just change the name in "About Phone".

OnePlus is NOT good with their long term software support, and that's a fact

Was thinking of going with OnePlus or Samsung after the iPhone (not because I don't like it, but out of curiosity) and now I don't think I'll go with either which sucks. OnePlus because they totally ruined everything good there was about OnePlus and Samsung started shoving stupid plastic backs on 800€ Galaxy S models. Absolutely ridiculous and lame.

One plus is a finished company imo. £829 for a flagship phone and you're only providing 2 years major OS update. Phones half that price get the type of support. Heck even Samsungs £140 a02s gets 2 year major updates

Change the ColorOS icons, change the base colours and change the font and change a few names here and there, it will look to everyone like a different Android skin. It is the next logical step to actually use the same skin but to keep a superficial surface-level difference for marketing purposes. Eventually, someone at OPLUS will realize working on two separate skins is a waste of time and ressources and will seek to streamline this process.
