Davy Jones, 22 Jun 2021Great hardware+ Meh software= same performance as last generationMeh software? For camera department, surely not. I can get lossless detail up to x2.5 zoom (23 to 70mm FL) using P40 1/1.28" main cam, without any telephoto sensor. Super Res algorithm put in a good use.

The wording is important.

Mikele, 22 Jun 2021Agreed But their phones are second to none in the market. ... moreYeah, it's a pity about the restrictions. The Kirin flagship chips are very good for signal quality as well. Definitely the Kirin 990 was better than the snapdragon 870 I'm using now in terms of 5g stability. Unfortunately the future doesn't look bright for them though

Really doubt 1/1.18 could share the same space with other 2 sensors in the top circle ...
We will see ... But tbh, I'm more interested in conventional 1' inch sensor inside Sharp Aquos R6

But their phones are second to none in the market. My experience has been fantastic with P40 Pro and my colleagues with more expensive phones jealous about the functionalities and photography power.

All fov's are important, wish the same kind of sensor makes it's way (somehow) to 2x-10x territory.
We could get also natural super bokeh then.

"The main sensor on at least the P50 Pro and Pro+ is heavily rumored to be a 1-inch Sony IMX800, the largest phone sensor to date."
Panasonic CM1 and the Sharp Aquos R6 already have a 1inch sensor. So its merely joining the club, if it finally manages to get a 1inch sensor.

If only Huawei didn't lock Camera2.api then it would've been a million times more impressive if it's paired with GCam.
The near, near closest we'll get to near DSLR camera quality in smartphones as of the moment, is the Mi 11 Ultra with GCam.
I would also be rather impressed if the Mate 40 Pro or P40 Pro supports GCam, as you could have the best mini-pocket DSLR (The Mi 11 Ultra and the Mi 10 Ultra still takes the cake for being the best mini-pocket DSLR as they are paired with GCam)

1. Curved sides...no thanks
2. They might as well have an APS-C size sensor, their software sucks and pictures are always underwhelming, while video is horrible.
3. No Play store = why even try?
