Anonymous, 21 Oct 2012cyanogenmod anyone? :-)HDMI dude?
Cyanogen does not make miracles, it relies on the drivers/modules that are available to make the ROM. If the manufacturer stops updating their phones guess what? No proper drivers, only the ones of the older versions or drivers from other manufacturers which may turn out to be compatible.
Bottom line, you will always have to rely on (at least) one manufacturer to do a good support of their hardware. We now know you can rule Sony out from that list.

AnonD-51752, 19 Oct 2012samsung the best in providing update even to low end phone..samsung galaxy W released october 2011, turning 1 year from now did not get ICS update which is also considered as midrange phone at that particular time... so you're argument that samsung is king of low to midrange phoness upgrade is invalid...

mike, 19 Oct 2012xperia 2012 owners...brace yourselves next yearI can worry about that later, what I am going to do is wait for the official Jellybean update from Sony... if that is where the road ends for my Xperia S, I will be a happy camper with all its features completely intact instead of Modding to a Key Lime Pie with less features (HDMI disabled, Internet browser/Camera/Wi-fi Problems, Playstation Certified Removed etc.) this features are included in the price I paid so I guess I will keep it as long as it is bug free... I just hope they will release firmware updates to fix bugs if they cannot give me future releases of android after jellybean... this coming from a not so rich guy that is unable to buy a flagship phone every year... not even a fanboy though, just being practical... if the need arises that I feel my phone is obsolete, then at that point in time I will think thoroughly if I ever need the specs of that particular gadget and the bells and whistles that will come along with it...

This is an example of Sony's customer policy:
BUY our phones, they're great,etc... We'll provide top-notch support, IF & ONLY IF your phone is from the current year. If that's not your case, sorry. BUY a NEW PHONE from the current year... and so on.
Sony has tricked me for the last time.

Fade., 19 Oct 2012So the Xperia J s1 processor and adreno 200 GPU gets update... moreThis is actually the first logical explanation I have seen as of yet. The problem is that you can see a lot of examples of xperia arc running JB on youtube.

Sony really did wrong. They should upgrade atleast 3-4 2011 xperia handsets which can run JB easily as xperia J is getting upgrade.
They did really wrong with arc s and specially LWW.
LWW released in the late oct 2011 and it is not even 1 year old and also it started off with 2.3.4 and the ICS it got is the most buggiest in comparison with the other xperia 2011 ics.LWW users constantly complaining about that but still SONY not able to fix it.The most imp thing is that 95% LWW users experienced the same problems when upgraded to ICS but still SONY failed to rectify.I thought they are in plan of upgrading it to JB that's why they haven't fixed the issues yet but now what should we do??
And for all who said SONY did right.I will gonna ask them same thing when Android 5(key lime pie) gonna released ,i want to see their reaction that time.
I seriously don't want JB ,seriously.but i want a stable ICS which should be smooth as Gingerbread, almost 10 months now for the ICS release and LWW yet has issues. My mobile got ruined after the upgrade nor i can downgrade back as per policy :( .I urge sony that please release a stable firmware update for LWW before releasing JB to xperia 2012 as after u release JB u will sure going to busy with the xperia 2012 JB upgradable phone's complaints.
BAD MOVE SONY.

Too bad Tipo ain't getting JB. To think that it's still new in the market. It's like Sony is telling that we are not going to support lower ends phone even if it is a new release. Galaxy Chat and Galaxy Music is getting JB. But this phone not.
Sony just shown it's true color.

well.. i'm tired of the laggy experiencie of ICS in my xperia pro.
I installed a custom rom (PACMAN ROM AOKP+CM Vanilla android JB 4.1)..
And you know that?
Is FASTER even than gingerbread!!
Why sony can not do this?
If sony would keep their phones updated, i would gadly continue to buy sony phones.
I stopped buying nokia phones when they went the micro$oft route.
Now i know: my next phone will be samsung.

Time for some serious custom moddin' baby!
Thank god for the devoloper's community. It's a matter of time before all 2011 Xperias get updated to ICS (unofficially, of course).
