Peter UK, 23 Jun 2021Yes there's plenty of tech in it but price higher than... moreSamsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 256GB: $1249.99
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB: $1,199
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 512GB: $1379.99

YUKI93, 23 Jun 2021I always know that Sony made the Xperia 1 series to compete... moreAccording to sales and past history, 90% of people will buy Samsung than Sony.
The Sony has stock UI - subjective, not everyone likes stock UI, big reason pixels and Sony are not selling well.
Professional-grade Photo Pro and Cinema Pro app, Zeiss optics - Fancy words does not matter, real life results matter the most and Samsung camera always looks good to majority of people.
Headphone jack, microSD card support, and a totally clean screen without any notch or punch hole - this is the only segment that Sony wins. Good on them for keeping these features.
Sony is not doing anything in the smartphone world to catch people's attention, while Samsung already makes Foldable and flip phones.

notafanboy, 23 Jun 2021More expensive than S21 Ultra and Mi 11 Ultra for no good reason.Lol please, more expensive than the S21 Ultra? The 256GB version cost the same as this Xperia. If you went for the 512GB version, that cost $1,400 for crying out loud! As for the Mi 11 Ultra, Xiaomi didn't sell it in the USA so I won't comment much on that.
And btw, "for no good reason"? Lol please, I deeply value the headphone jack and microSD card support, so I'll be deeply eyeing the Xperia. I'm no longer using wireless Bluetooth headphones and cloud storage, so having those still relevant features on a flagship smartphone is a necessity.

I'm just so tired waiting for something notchless and worthy for spending money. And again when Sony will be available to import to my country, mark IV will be already announced...

I always know that Sony made the Xperia 1 series to compete against other top-tier premium flagship smartphones like the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to name just two and this definitely proves it.
So really, the question that matters is which one between the Sony and the Samsung is a worthy buy if you are not into Apple. The Sony has stock UI, professional-grade Photo Pro and Cinema Pro app, Zeiss optics, a headphone jack, microSD card support, and a totally clean screen without any notch or punch hole. But the Samsung has a well-polished DeX Desktop Mode and adaptive HRR screen. You can use Desktop Mode on Sony, but it really is the built-in hidden barebone version.
