I started with Motorola back in the day, jumped to Apple for awhile and then spent years with Samsung Flagships. I tried a Sony XZ Premium four years ago and it's the best phone I have ever owned or tried. Mine still runs perfect but I am going for the Xperia 1 iii. Suit yourself I say.

Xperia's telephoto lens kicks in at 2.9-3x range and so doesn't have a comeback at this magnification - it would be a simple upscale-and-interpolate which would degrade the image quality.

Go to 12:40 mark. That guy use a shutter priority mode, and the results is surprisingly good! even better than iPhone 12 Pro Max Night Mode! Of course its just for a static object (can get a stylized effect if want to using some blurry moving subject). He never mention how many seconds count to take the shot, but I think you can just know how many needs to be used when you're at the actual scene/location.

VectorR, 24 Jun 2021You must be living on the other planet, mate. Don't sp... moreLol please, you are the one who shouldn't spread lies and misinformation. If you really say wireless headphones have "surpassed the wires", why ASUS bothered to put the headphone jack back on their new phones? Also, why LG doesn't come up with a wireless Quad DAC? You can't fight physics, that's for sure. Wireless only excels for portability, that's it. If you really say wireless has better audio quality than wired, then you are the one who is delusional. Even non-audiophile peoples can tell the difference between the wired and wireless audio quality.

The specifications are beautiful and I'm hoping that Band 71 means T-Mobile support. I'd like to relieve myself of a MediaTek Velvet 5G with LG's miserably buggy OS.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021Mi 11 Ultra does nothing better at 2.7x because it's c... moreQuad Bayer can be excellent if put in a good use. Both Xiaomi & Huawei apply the Super Res algorithm in their digital zoom, not just a simple one. Basically between main FL to another optical telephoto, a two method has been shot. Downsampled 50mp fused with cropped pixel binned at 12.5mp. Its not a simple 'digital zoom'.
I've seen comparison between Mi11U & Xperia 1iii at x2.9 zoom. Details is indeed comparable. The same as my current P40, which can be stretch up to x2.5 zoom lossless detail, without the needs of telephoto lens on that particular FL.

This is the problem with Sony! They are taking too long to readily available their mobile phones on certain countries while their competition are already selling theirs months & months & months ahead.

If u want an accurate definition, its an UltraWide 4K. But I dont see nothing wrong to call it just a 4K, considering u know already that the screen has a 21:9 ratio.

Reds, 24 Jun 2021Dude you are talking about 8K recording when your phone can... more@Reds It's not native 4K. It's 1644p. They call it "4K" as it has the 3840 horizontal count like true 4K, but the vertical count is only 1644p. It would allow for native 21:9 4K movies but it's not true 4K. True 4K is 3840x2160 or 2160p. Technically it's even less accurate to call this 4K as a 32:9 1440p display as at least that has the same pixel count.

Stalwart, 23 Jun 2021For that much money does anyone know how many major update ... moreSony's official policy is two years. There are some rumors they might start doing three years. No phone with a Qualcomm chipset (i.e. Snapdragon) can do more than the three years, because Qualcomm refuses to update their proprietary drivers for the chipset beyond three years--it's their planned obsolescence business strategy. So it doesn't matter how expensive and fancy the phone is, they are all held hostage by Qualcomm.
Samsung recently claimed they would start doing four years, but that's just marketing hot air, since they can't update the proprietary drivers from Qualcomm. Maybe people will get some extra feature updates, but they won't be getting security updates. Welcome to the Qualcomm monopoly.

I knew Sony fans are absolutely noncritical to Sony, but when I see that lies about price and gifts (Samsung always gives some pre-order or first-order gifts), I never want to have anything common with those people and this brand. Because no person of common sense could write this just by themselves... that must be paid by Sony.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021And Xperia does poorly at both. Not even in pics, nor in video.
The 1II had actually comparable or better photos/videos than the 12 pro, when compared using Photo / Cinema pro apps vs the Auto mode of the iPhone. I mean ok the auto mode is not great in the Xperia but it actually compensates for that by giving you full manual control. I mean sometimes auto mode can be tricked, see the.vid below.
