And talking about camera bump because of bigger hardware? What now? You want Sony to keep the 1/1.7" sensor size in a smartphone until 2050? 🙄
To be honest, eventhough Sony late in the camera hardware game, I'm glad they didnt listen to you. They will stuck with 1/2.6" sensor if they listen to people like you 😂
In smartphone world, Sony is no Apple. The gap are huge in sales. So whatever Apple does, people still buying it. Sony in the other hand....hurm. About other chinese phone u mentioned, I dont care about them (sales still better than any Sony phones though). I love Sony & want it to succeed.

Shui8, 23 Jun 2021Its not me saying. Even Sony admit about it starting 1ii. B... moreWell, feel free to teach them how to use a larger 1/1.2" main camera without a ridiculously ugly and annoying cam bump like Mate 40 Pro+, Mi11 Ultra, S21 Ultra or X60 Pro+.
How they can keep 20fps while adjusting focus and exposure 3 times per frame (when other do not even offer AF for burst). While they try to minimize rolling shutter during videos, that gets worse as readout gets slower.
Oh, all this inside 7,1 and 6,8cm width phones.
Also, larger does not mean it would cost more.
Tech it packs has much more influence on the price.
I can guarantee to you the even the old sensor inside RX10/100 cost much more than one inside Sharp R6.
If I am not wrong, S21/21+ also use 1/1.7" cameras, the iphone has 1/1.8" camera. X60 Pro has 1/2".

However I do think that Sony's flagships from last 2 years are one of the best or the best overall (if we take into account video recording, results from all camera modules, autofocus, etc.).

What Sony sells for a year, Samsung does in a month, so please, put already your pink glasses away and admit, that Sony is no top brand. And by pricing Xperia 1 III over S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max it goes even faster to disappearing.

Screen from Boe or China Star, lenses from Largan.
The cheaper UFS3.1 version used by redmi K series, usb 2.1, gorilla 5.
Phone would be much cheaper to make this way compared to pieces they use now. And profits would be much higher.

Hater are funny.
Phone is advertised as media powerhouse but they (people that would never buy sony) demand hole and curved screen, stuff that ruin the experience.
Even Samsung is slowly getting away from curved screen.
