Sony Xperia Pro in for review

I hardly use the Xperia Pro as an external monitor. Because of the aspect ratio, it is hardly larger than the A7S3 screen. However, being able to broadcast using such simple device is invaluable.

This phone is certainly overpriced but that can be said for pretty much all professional equipments, and Sony can price this product however they want to since they target it for an extremely niche TV broadcasting market. It's simply made not for you (or probably any of us looking at this website right now, to be honest).

everyone is being so negative because of the price, and that it comes with a slightly older chipset. Both valid and obvious points, however, I wonder if Sony chose this chipset to avoid the high throttling 888 that would have run hot, or, may have kicked into throttle mode all to often if it was used in this application. HELLO GSM, you might take that point in to consideration when you do a review.

Curved screen with poor calibration and warm/punchy colours.

As much as I'm a Sony fans, this thing has the tiniest target market ever in product market history. Yes it's cheaper and has more features than the typical external monitor with the same display spec (4K and stuff), and yes it delivers much better performance for monitoring AND live streaming than any other phones would dream of. But with twice the price of what it's based on but only a mere two more advanced features.. what are you doing, Sony? Still, it's the only smartphone to this day that earn the "Pro" name properly.

There is no point in arguing with Sony fanboys... Sony could slap HDMI port on a 2012 Xperia with the price of 10,000$ and customer's born son and fanboys would still defend it because it's for " P R O F E S S I O N A L S "

USB-C is for camera devices that support USB transport and they are limited to 720p only. This means if you want to stream live you will stream only in 720p. If the camera doesn't support a USB feed then you need a dongle HDMI to USB-C which doesn't come cheap and hang off the camera.
For $2500 you will not be able to find an external OLED monitor anywhere. The battery on external monitors cannot match the battery of Xperia Pro and Xperia Pro can use USB-C to charge the camera.
For $2500 you can find an external recorder that's true but you can't stream with it live.
So with Xperia Pro you get some, you lose some but the same applies to external monitors and external recorders.

Its a niche product, created for content creator & professionals. For that, it is most welcome.
Practicality as a smartphone, to me not so much. How to use it as a smartphone when u attach it as a monitor while working lol. Have to carry a secondary phone anyway. The most practical way are treat it solely as an 'advance monitor'. Nothing like it in the market.
