Sony Xperia 1 III pre-orders open in Europe, shipments start in early August [Updated]

The Xperia 1 III is €1,234 with a free pair of TWS earphones, the Xperia 5 III is €925.

    So, the "bundle" offered by Media Markt & Saturn in Germany are bundles created by those companies themselves.
    Media Markt currently has a special offer running on electricals which, in the case of the Xperia 1iii will deduct 10% from the price of the phone.
    I have pre-ordered the phone alone for 1169.10€ (less than the original price of the 1ii)
    I imagine that once Sony officially unveils the pre-order start we will get official bundles from Sony which will be included with my pre-order from Media Markt.
    All in all not a bad deal to get the new phone, less than the old one and, fingers crossed, with a nice pair of headphones once Sony officially announce pre-order start.

Chinese brands win at the lower tier only, other than that the entire Android market is mostly dominated by Samsung. Sony has always been a niche player like Apple, unlike Samsung that strives to serve many segments of the markets. It's just that Sony doesn't have enough unique points of sale to attract consumers. I think the only way for Sony's phones to become popular, is for them to make exclusive access to some mobile versions of their PS4/5 games with sync support. That would get Sooo many people and gamers into Sony's smartphones. However, that requires 100s of millions of dollars worth of investments and it's such a bold step that's very unlike Sony or the Japanese more conservative and slow business culture. (which many prefer since it yields reliability and quality).

                Stalwart, 25 Jun 2021I love both 1III and 5III because of the design and capabil... moreThe price is bothersome, but the bigger issue is the release window. The S21 family came out 5 months ago, with similar specs AMD a smaller price tag. If this came out at $1,300 in February, I might have grumbled about the price, but still bought it. Instead, it seems likely to launch closer to the release date of the S22 than the S21.

                This leaves me compelled to wait for the Surface Duo 2 announcement that should come a month or two later. I like the headphone jack on my G8, but I would find the Duo a more interesting/exciting device than the Xperia 1 III. I could cover the deficiencies (mostly the audio) of the Duo by keeping my G8 on the side. The Xperia is more of a direct upgrade for my $600 G8, but at more than double the cost.

                  I love both 1III and 5III because of the design and capabilities but it's just way too damn expensive. That pricing just kills the possibility for it to sell as intended to. I really hope they reconsider and give the price a decent drop.

                        EUR1300 somewhere in August!? A-ha-ha! Hilarious Sony! Even with free wireless buds (which is an insult for most Sony fanboys giving the fact that Xperia 1 III has 3.5mm audiojack) it is no go zone for most people who still have some brains left. Good luck Sony :).

Chinese ODM are the most popular cause their phones go for FREE on carrier contracts. Simple as that.

                              1iii is bit more expensive than 1ii, still gonna be more popular.

                              Sony needs to charge $1450 for 1 iv.
                              People are gonna buy anyway.

                              I bet other OEMs already have it, to tear down and copy the OPTICAL ZOOM.
                              Because it is the only current phone that has this feature.
