Big or small? Cheap or with a great camera? Stylus support, perhaps?

Only foldable that makes sense for me is clamshell as that will make it fit in the pockets and isnt just fat phone that turn into tablet while phones already are so large that they are already basically mini tablets

A hybrid of Galaxy Fold 2 and Mate X2! No obvious crease, wedge shape, no-compromise camera setup just like Mate, but adjustable hinge angle, display quality and more tablet friendly UI of OneUI (Because let's be honest, Samsung makes the best Android UI for tablet products) from Galaxy. I don't care about tall clamshell phones since phones are already slim enough to fit into my jeans/suits just fine without folding them, but I can see myself buying a foldable tablet in a future if they become more durable and start using a proper glass as a display surface material.

YUKI93, 27 Jun 2021To be fair, Samsung did use a plastic screen... kind of. Sa... moreSamsung DOES use the real glass, UTG is quite literally a glass panel that is so thin that it can actually flex and bend like plastic, while adding a bit of rigidity to the display structure (though it is unknown how effective this material really is at it). It's coated with a plastic film because of its weakness to pressure, but at the same time you can see some Fold/Fold 2 users reporting a cracked middle section of the display on Twitter - this wouldn't happen if the panel was made out of plastic.

Tech is not there yet for my dream foldable

I know samsung is trying to fuse glass and plastic to make a more rigid plastic, but have they toyed around with a screen thats mostly glass with glasstic only at the folding edge of the screen ?

I don‘t care about anything other than a glass screen right now. Price will go down anyway

I think more research have to be done to improve the hardness and durability of the folding screen.

NeverOpnReplies, 27 Jun 2021No dream foldable phones for me. Because I've already... moreTo be fair, Samsung did use a plastic screen... kind of. Samsung called it Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) but frankly, it's just a sort of plastic-glass hybrid widely known as 'glasstic'. If Samsung uses real glass on the Galaxy Fold models as they do on their phones, the screen would have already break in half.

AnonD-762416, 27 Jun 2021Microsoft is giving away their split screen phone. LG cance... moreI don't recall people were totally hyped for the Microsoft Surface Duo, especially considering the fact that it was launched with the previous year flagship chipset. As for the LG, I actually see more people rooting for the dual-display route instead of the foldable screen. I remembered asking a question on multiple sub-Reddit about the choice between LG's DualScreen case solution and the Galaxy Fold foldable screen. Out of all the replies I got (and it is quite a lot), very few actually prefer the latter. The rest would go for LG's solution.

No dream foldable phones for me.
Because I've already used a foldable phone owned by my colleagues (galaxy fold2), looking directly at its screen,
and the crease and also the nail scratches are REAL and permanent. Looks like a cheap plastic screen.

I am using Poco F1 guys. No problem, bugs, issues, lags, or stutters since launch. Using the 6 GB 128 Gb version with plastic blue back. Battery screen on time is 5 hours now, down from 6 hours at the beginning. I downloaded gcam. Right now is having MIUI 12.1 at March security patch, Android 11. Display is fine, performance is fine, battery is more than fine, charging takes 60 minutes from 20% to 80%

It would look like this. And of course have the newest hardware! 1 main camera only! No jack! No sd card!

Sad this never became more than this concept video.

LG cancelled everything when they realised they had made a massive strategic error going down the same route. It doesn't take much thought to realize why two split screens are useless.

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2021Nope, still got line in the middle.. It's a dual display smartphone, so of course you still see the line (by that I mean the hinge) in the middle.

I honestly would take a detachable dual display solution like what LG did with the DualScreen case. I've been using it on my V50 and it is still much more practical than the Samsung Galaxy Fold that I temporarily owned through carrier before I returned it. The fact that I can easily use the secondary screen for any second app without the need for screen splitting and simply detach the case after I have done playing with it is a complete no brainer. Foldable screen smartphones may look like a future innovation, but it still has a long LONG way to go for complete reliability. So for now, I won't be jumping back into the foldable screen bandwagon.
