Worth every penny. But software support and updates may be horrible.

Finally US users won't have to to deal with annoying pixel 5 with Snapdragon 765 for 700$.
Proud to be born in a country, where we have all the choice unlike USA, to spoil us.

can we expect asus to bring it in India

That's cool they gave me long enough to change my mind... I'll see what the future holds I guess.

Why not the 12 gb memory version? Then the SD card would be the only reason to get the 5 iii

wongwatt, 30 Jun 2021I really don't understand the obsession with things th... moreIt's just cheaper to implement. The display driver is located at bottom, and the more expensive bezel less phones use flexible OLED, which folds the driver behind the display, giving smaller bezels. Naturally it's more expensive than normal OLED. But then again, it has no practical benefits. And we get the best in segment stereo speakers with Zenfone 8. So I'm okay with the tradeoff. I need to mention many brands (and their sister brands) cut cost by ordering large quantities of similar sized displays. Now Asus is a small brand in comparison, and 5.9" display isn't a common, so I assume it's a custom order, just like ROG PHONE 5 display. This adds to the cost. The cost will go down naturally if there's more demand of this form factor.

So I won't say it's really cost cutting. For the price, it offers the best specs a phone can offer.

                        Good news indeed.

zillion, 30 Jun 2021That chin bezel so 'unique' for flagship segment..I really don't understand the obsession with things that are outside of the display viewing area, the bezels are irrelevant to the actual usage of a device.
That's why we've had to suffer notches, punch holes, pop-ups and stupid under display cameras instead of keeping usable bezels.
Not to mention bezel hiding curved displays, removal of the notification light and other compromises.
Might also be the cause of the death of 16:9 screens too.
                          All to chase tiny bezels.

$699.99 for 256GB storage and 8GB RAM? That is $100 less than the cheapest Samsung Galaxy S21 with 128GB storage. Just about the only thing missing from this ASUS is USB-C 3.1 with video output, or else it would be a solid alternative to the S21 and S21+.

Really wish this phone had a SD778 (likely more power efficient fab in reality than Samsung fab'ed SD780) and a 4200mAh battery. My search for a phone to replace my 6T would be over. As it stands, the S20 FE 5G is my only option until the 5 mk III hits the shelves.

Extremely tempted, but the lack of an SD card slot is making it hard for me to say yes, since I use mine extensively on my current phone. Tired of flagships phasing them out to push cloud storage and bigger internal storage for bloated prices.

Wish the Xperia 5 III wasn't going to be like $300 more. Probably the next smallest flagship available soon. It has both a 3.5 jack and a card slot.
