And if the s21 Ultra can reach over 1000 nits then in accurate mode there's no way out couldn't even reach 500.

It's spot-on on their own set scale of what they think it consitutes a good achievement. It's not universal cause uniiversal doesn't exist much like when your amp classifies loudness in db units, it's measured against their exclusive manufacturer scale.

          Displaymate results are not in correlation with each other. Color accuracy, constrast accuracy, peak brightness are all tested without any realtionship to each other which means that you can't get accurate colors on maximum brightness. They DO NOT even mention gamma tracking anywhere and that's color accuracy in relatiioin to luminosity as brighntess bumps up. They DO NOT mention D75 anywhere, they are stuck with D65 all across their own test with assumption that all displays are run on D65 universally. See, their own set of scales what consitutes a good display.

          For example if you want color accuracy during the daytime D75 is a great starting point, yeah you might ask but what about universal color accuracy day and night and I will tell you there is no such thing, then you might say but this is a phone not a professional tool and I might ask you then why does displaymate test color accuracy in the first place? Xperia PRO has settings for calibaration on any illuminants you desire.

          Perfect experiment for you to try to test your brightness of the screen is to take your Samsung or OnePlus and put it in Natural color screen mode. Then go outside and see what happens, it wont punch above 500 nits I can bet my house on it. So where did rest of the 300 nits go? It's in vivid/default mode but then you can forget all about any great contrast accuracy, color accuracy, and all the stuff displaymate tells you how great is your display in their testing. You can't have them both honey, it's either eyebleeding brightness or it's everything else and in order to achieve that you have to fiddle in the settings menu, there is no quick flip switch. So now we can come to conclusion that you either appreciate extreme brightness levels (800 nits) or color accuracy at 450 nits.

                      As I also said, yes, the price should have dropped. I agreed with you there but the author of this article is implying that Sony could have replaced the components with that of the 1 III and re-release the pro in that manner in the middle of the chipset shortage and that was not possible.

                      Simple as that and end of story.

You can head to ODM factory get your own branded bulk handset and send it to displaymate for a fee. The only three manufacturers who are not paying the test results are Apple, Samsung and Pixel. They are used as a bait to beat by OP Oppo Xiaomi and others who chase specs. Pretty much same as DxOmark , professional photographers doing the testing while posting images with distorted faces and palms.

                          But as a frame now a days? No. And again regardless of the supposed reasons doesn't change that is cost cutting so one more reason that's is baffling ridiculous to have such a price.

                          And go look up comparisons. The 5g didn't hold up as well. Plain and simple. Maybe they can update.
                          But thats always been another excuse with xperia. Oh there an update coming that will fix that.....

                            And you're dang right that the brightness is a huge factor. They are both high resolution with very accurate output. The difference is the galaxy is larger, almost double the brightness, almost triple the brightness compared to the $2500 xperia pro, actually let's you choose and maintain your preferred resolution, and its not misleading you about the refresh rate. Not claiming that it's the first 4K 120hz screen when it can't even display 4K 120hrz.
                            S21U in fact maintains full 3k res and 120hz.

That's not correction. That's them leading on what they have done. Lack things, release late, release expense.
                              Goodies? They don't offer goodies. Even the pro offers nothing despite it doubling and quadrupling the price tag of better phones.
                              Pre order goodies are different and most devices offer them.

                              Announcing early and releasing late is not to prevent demand. It's supposed to create it. However this is what Sony has done numerous times and just like the rest of their poor managing ideas never get the picture it doesn't work.

                              If the phone falls behind other devices in other categories, is excessively more expensive then others, is not locally available, is not even available at all, and nothing even tells you it exists.... thats a design for poor sales. Through and through.
                              This just feeds the chain reaction of high cost devices lacking in comparison that sell poorly and lead them to think they need to raise prices more or give up.
