06 July 2021
But it will be a newer, more refined version of the current 108MP ISOCELL HM3 unit.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2021Dear, you are asking for 1 inch + 1/1.33" ultra wide.... moreNo, the P50 pro is supposed to have a 1 "sensor with, a wide angle and a periscope telephoto lens, and the P50 Pro + the same, but with a 3D ToF sensor, Pixel 6 will also have a periscope and ultra wide angle telephoto lens, and rumored to have a 1 "main sensor, although we must await the release of both

as of now, knowing what other companies are planning to release next year, this decision might put Samsung behind. Of course only time will tell.

Megapixel race is idiotic, there is so much more to photography and a good camera than how many megapixels you can use.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2021And what is the sensor size and individual pixel size?1/1.33"
0.8 micron.

This is why most phones have limited 4K recording time. Up to 10 min.
And why some phones show pop up message the cam app is being shut down due heat.

More bezels around pixel area.

Nick Tegrataker, 06 Jul 2021That wouldn't be solving any problem I'm afraid.Poor low light performance is high ISO often used by automatic mode.
As ISO goes up, shutter goes 1/32s, 1/64s etc ...

All cellphones are crap when not using base ISO.
WRGB sensors will be heavily used in 2022, but at cost of colour accuracy.

It is not worth making scene brighter than it is at expense of texture and colour.

Easy. Person uses auto for daylight light and manual for night scene.
Once you set ISO and shutter, it remains same value until you change again.

Raw is gonna get rid of excess of NR done by samsung.
Also, it avoid the wrong warm colours.

200mpx... 108mpx... So useless 🙄

Source?

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2021Easy. Use raw + iso200 + shutter 2s. Problem solved. That wouldn't be solving any problem I'm afraid.

No thanks, just please stick to Tetracell instead of Nonacell crap. Samsung failed to utilise HM1/HM3's extra resolution on their own flagships, and the reason for it is very obvious by now.

No hm3 pls for real. Use gn2 or make a new gn3or even hm4 is acceptable just not same and *polished* sensor which is prob jus tosne software fixing. Ahh well

walkman8, 06 Jul 2021I, for one, appreciate this move (if True). I'd rath... moreThe 108MP is already at generation 3 in the S21U. I suspect they'll use the better cell isolation of the 200MP trials they have made. So, HM4?

I'd rather they refine one of the same sensor for 2-3 years to finally achieve the perfect software and hardware harmony. For instance, mi 10 ultra's sensor was perfectly fine. Jel,it's even on par with mi 11 ultra's sensor. But yet they barely grasped the true potential of the sensor and decided to ditch it for another on and start from scratch.

Told ya. Another brand will be first with Samsungs newest sensor, just like the 108MP.!
