notafanboy, 08 Jul 2021Mediatek is always badIf you compare the GT to the GT Neo which are identical handsets except for the chipset, you'll find the SD888 version using 10% more power but in most instances not giving 10% more in performance compared to the Dimensity 1200 version. MediaTek is up there with the best that Qualcomm has to offer. I wouldn't pick the SD888 chip over the cheaper Dimensity 1200 chip.

notafanboy, 08 Jul 2021Mediatek is always badNot necessarily. Sure, MediaTek can't keep up with Snapdragon and Apple Bionic, but for the price it is good. The Dimensity 1200 is somewhere in between Snapdragon 865 and 870, making it a capable chipset

Price shuld be under 30k and there should be more 5g bands almost 5 to 10 band.
if not its a fail.
I will definitely it if top verient is under 30k and if there are more 5g bands like Europe version and other brands.

First, sources aren't limited to soc.
Oneplus has full sources : soc, cameras, screen, touchpanel, gyroscope...not Mediatek!
Oneplus spread the device to customers
The one who must and can release the sources is Oneplus...not Mediatek!
I'm sure, you will go on Oneplus Github, you will find Nord 2's sources...
Indians devs are enough open minded (and skilled?) to build kernel, custom rom for a device like Redmi Note 8 Pro...maybe devs from western countries should accept to change their habits.
Second, Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture offers a low level programming access to Oneplus. It means Oneplus will use own librairies instead Mediatek's ones...
I doubt Qualcomm offers this possibility...for exemple DSP's sources are closed (Hexagon.)
And your custom rom won't bring AV1 hardware decoding on your pricey SD888! Its obsolete decoder will stay an obsolete decoder...last year, Dimensity 1000+ already was able to, mideranger Dimensity 900 is able to.

Everyone with a flagship that has no jack is using Bluetooth or a simple adapter on the end of their headphones. It's not hard and by no means the end of the world. But some people just can't stand a better audio experience no matter what.

Also no one is crying, there are still phones with hp jacks in the midrange thankfully, and I certainly wont be spending flagship level money to limit my choices further, although Sony 5 III & P50 is really tempting
