    If you need a longer battery, use a power bank.

      Any phone that is more than 1000$ is a big no to me. They all become so expensive that it's extremely hard to justify what I get for what I pay.

      Anyway, I just bought Xperia 5ii few months ago, and very happy with it.

      So, sorry Xperia 1iii, may be next time.

        There are a lot of vocal Sony fanboys shilling for their favourite brand. But, alas, Sony is not making good enough phones to justify the price they're selling them for.

          At least LG dropped their price in the end, sure their phones were not the best but Sony is in same situation.

          Yet Xperia 1 Mark II is still around €799 and above here.

          Don't get me wrong, LG was balanced but it didn't shine enough, also software updates were by far the biggest issue.

          Sony does updates better (compared to LG) but messes up the price.

          Problem is that Sony mostly does what I liked about LG, not being Samsung or Apple by removing more and more stuff, because both are so larger (I mean I don't know the current numbers, but last time I saw Samsung had more than 55% of Android market in hands)

          Then there are the Chinese brands... which start to follow what Samsung and Apple do sadly.

          So what is left? Motorola is even more meh nowdays, and brands like Asus are very niche.

          Sad times to buy 99% of phone brands out there, in the end the niche goes away, including Sony and we stay left like a bunch of sheeps left with brands that follow the vague agenda Samsung and Apple dictate.

          Matter of time the charging port goes away on iPhones, Samsung follow then the Chinese brands do.

          And after that just a matter of time until they remove another thing...

              I agree on this with GSMA. This phone is ridiculously expensive for what you get. It's no where near ground-breaking enough to cost something like 200 euros more than the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

                Doesn't matter when it comes out, $1300 would've always been way too much.

                  You want an Xperia so buy it. You want a Huawei P series, then buy it. An LG, buy it. Buy what you want, indulge yourself, don't let yourself be influenced by frustrated people who think they are ambassadors of good taste and fair price.

                          Xperia 1 III is a great phone, but not perfect, and for that price you should expect perfection and nothing less.

                              They need to start making compact phones again, especially in the $400 range. Just look at the iphone SE. If that phone with iOS can be a big hit for Apple then such a phone with Android w would sell like cakes

                                  i think a large number of fans just want a good compact phone from sony. thats it. nothing more, nothing less.

                                  they dont care if display is 4k@120hz or if the lenses are carl zeiss or yada yada.

                                  classic compact sony with average good sound display n camera is fine for most if they manage to pack in good battery 3mm jack and sd card.

                                  i think within next two years samsung is going to make such a huge leap in smartphone segment, evryone else will simply have no option but to watch.

                                  LG sensed it early!!!!!

Really? There are better options? I've seen that line on several Sony reviews(Not even an over priced iPhone gets such remarks), it aches me when they intentionally direct potential buyers to others brands. If that's not anti-marketting then I don't know what it is.

                                    That's gone way off from reviewing to actual brand defamation. I clearly said, if you're not new to here then definitely you should know this. Anybody that's been here for at least 3 years knows this, so it's not even for argument.

                                      Only 2 things ok are: sd and jack.
                                      But all this without a good battery, a bright screen are useless.

                                        Honestly, despite not being a Sony fan at all, I would not use this site's review for that decision. This site missed glaring features such as:

                                        1. Taking photos in Pro Mode (like they did with last year's flagship)
                                        2. Features of Game Enhancer (like they did with last year's flagship)
                                        3. Using Dolby Atmos for the speakers (ditto)
                                        4. Remembering that battery care might have been turned on when charging the phone
                                        5. Running the battery tests at 60Hz (like they do with EVERY PHONE REVIEWED HERE)

                                        Either way, I'm pre-ordering it on Tuesday (my only chance with my work schedule) as it's the only mid-range or flagship with front-facing speakers, microSD card slot, and headphone jack available in the US.
