Also some people are using lapdocks or connect their phones to displays to do work on the go. You should never say we don't need to innovate and improve

Sad truth is that Snapdragon 888 throttles with most phones because Qualcomm just had to had those big percent uplift numbers but sadly the sustained performance is much slower in reality compared to last gen.

The problem is not unique to OnePlus and was present when the OnePlus phones first came out The Xiaomi Mi 11 phones dont throttle it and allow it to run normally and both have overheating problems as a result. It's obvious why OnePlus are holding the chip back. They know it will overheat!

A decent gaming pc cost well above flagships and gaming phones can handle gaming similarly aswell. U can get a flagship soc under 500 bucks even. Or u can get a gaming phone around 600-900 bucks with outstanding cooling and high perfomance so the phone is cool and spc doesnt throttle. It also doesn't happen on gaming pc but those are far more expensive.

Oneplus are saying they optimised for what is required, but as an owner of op 9 pro some apps like Google news and Twitter and many others can have such a bad user experience with stuttey scrolling, they just cut a line that gives MEDIOCRE performance and nothing else, if performance was adequate would not complain but it isn't far from it.

I agree with with Oneplus that high-end SoCs are overkill for mobile devices.
iPhones include high-end SoCs partially because Apple provides >=5 years of Operating System Upgrades.
However, it doesn't make much sense on the Android side to date.
High-end Snapdragon SoCs are battery hogs and Android phones typically get 3 years of OS Upgrades(some less). High-end Snapdragon SoCs is partially why there are so much giant Android phones on the market.
Gaming needs to be left for gaming consoles and PCs.
