    b0d0, 13 Jul 2021So the soc is overkill...that means the software is shite...You have reading comprehension problem dude. It means that apps are already optimized that it does not need so much power hence, OnePlus decide to underclock the CPU without telling OP9 buyers.

      It's overkill if only apps are involved, but then a SOC has much more to a phone. Hardware optimization, software optimization and all sorts.

        So they throttled the SOCs because they have shite batteries or plan to make their devices flatter and the lricet for that is flatter batteries. Got it! I'll keep my honor 20 pro. Today at work I saw a smartphone with AMOLED screen. The screen looked... Yellow!

            When I first heard that Google dropped the top Snapdragon in favour of a lower power ,but more optimized SoC I was skeptical but the more time goes on the more sense it makes.

                  It is sad that snapdragon 888 is another snapdragon 810 fiasco where most phones with it are throttling heavily.

                  With mid range socs people are getting more stable framerates with little bit lower settings vs snapdragon 888 which throttles heavily with the same settings.

                  I would rather buy phone with upper mid range soc and with 100 dollar lower price than getting that flagship throttle nightmare.

These are from rog phone 2 reviews which show A12 throttle to the point even sd 855 surpass it

                        In short I have never seen recent Anandtech test without sustained review to check how much these phones do throttle.

                            So if someone has opinion that make him/her biased? Am not Fan of iPhone but I have never seen Anandtech test as biased.

                            They always point how A series soc throttle in details, they destroyed Geekbench myth etc. If they favor Apple why should they go deep in these matters?

                              What a braindead explanation. Oneplus, then why do you center all your marketing about speed and performance? And then come out with this excuse? haha

The most clear example of his bias was when after tons of readers complained that Anandtech totally disregarded the importance of replaceable batteries and support for memory cards in favor of aluminum cases (i.e. form over function) Anand and his buddy Brian Klug published highly questionable editorial titled Post about removable storage, removable batteries and smartphones. This post was soundly criticized by readers. Soon after Brian Klug joined Apple now followed by Anand. It is clear that the two people who were in charge of reviewing Apple products at Anandtech for a few years suddenly abandoned their blogger careers and joined Apple. This does remind me of the politicians joining lobbying firms after leaving congress. Nothing illegal. Just does not smell right.

                                    Lack of cooling is the reason why S21 Ultra, Xperia 1 III and iPhone 12 pro Max can't hang with other phones, especially gaming phones.
