OnePlus says recent smartphone SoCs are an overkill for many apps

But, can you prove that it was (or is) biased towards apple as the other guy said? Because that flawed memory test gave an advantage to even exynos SoCs back then.
And even now, GB5 can give intel CPUs with AVX an absurdly huuuuuge advantage in crypto, but I don't see anyones saying is biased for intel.

            Maybe, but hiding such practices is totally wrong.

            By the way, if it was true then we wouldn't need that "x% increase in CPU and y% in GPU while having z% less in power consumption" of a SoC every year....its like saying "we have been ripping people off"

              OnePlus didn't throttle every app but specific apps and those apps they were found in code and anandtech did post that code, examples of those app were Facebook, Google Chrome, Microsoft office, brave browser etc.

              Things like Excel, Google Chrome and brave browser they can be heavy apps especially when you run heavy Javascript code or open big excel file.

              By limiting phone to run with cortex A55 without option to allow cortex A78 or X1 it means you phone would run really really slow, cortex A55 is used in lowend phone which some cost cheaper than $100, no excuse for flagship phone to do this.

              All other phones apart from Oneplus process is Automatic, when you open heavy task X1 or cortex A78 core will take it, and when you open lite task cortex A55 will take it and save battery. But oneplus disable X1 completely in those apps.

                  Ufs 3.1 storage speeds of phones like Vivo, Oneplus is faster, camera performance is faster, sustained performance is better. OS is mature and diversified enough.

                    Then why so we need to bother buying flagship phones at all? We can all stick with last year's SoC and be happy with the performance. Why spend a lot of money on the latest device when its set up to perform the same as an earlier model, which is now much much cheaper. To be honest, I wish I had done just that. Why pay for a Porche that only performs like a Ford Focus

                                    When to switch to higher performance cores is upto the manufacturers. They know what is best for battery. Not using cortex a78 for email opening or some basic task.
                                    Do all your apps run on cortex a78? Tell me?
                                    Anandtech biased as they are only showed two heavy cpu consuming browsers not using high performance cores. Where are tests for other browsers?
