Anonymous, 26 Oct 2012I being one, defective HD2 which required an Android app to... moreDon't get me started on the HD2. I went through 10 of them in the first year and a half that it was out. All kinds of issues and Tmobile wouldn't swap my phone out for a different one.
This is sad though befause HTC's build quality is better than Samsung's but them keeping phones from certain markets probably had a hand in this.

I believe their phones to be great and well priced. If only they stopped their policy of limiting the data storage available on the device they would sell much more. Very few people want a high-end device without a memory card option. The 16GB of the One S and the Windows Phone 8X are ridicolous, the 32GB of the One X barely acceptable...

HTC's products are of higher quality than Samsung's (arguably). In my opinion, they need to make phones with better batteries, SD card slots, removable battery, and market/advertise more.

It's a shame because they use to be the go-to manufacturer until Sammy showed up...
For me, I've had several HTCs over the years, their old windows phones were amazing HTC Titan 2 and for me up until the HTC Hero - they were leading the way...
But then...
Real lack of software updates..
The focus on Sense over actual specs...
The battery life issues...
But for me, the main 2 issues?
First one was that every phone after the Hero looked the same from HTC, there was little / nothing distinguishing their top-range from their middle... they became boring grey slabs... so generic it was painful...
But then with the HTC One X - they made the 2nd fatal mistake of REMOVING essential technology like memory card slots, etc. - they're doing a Nokia and not listening to what the market / their fans / audience want and as such won't last much longer I don't think...
It's a real shame, because when you think back to what companies like Nokia and HTC were like in their prime, they were unstoppable... even SonyE to an extent (they just seem content on providing phones with the year-before's technology - tragic that they can't (won't) catch up with others re: specs...)
Which miserably leaves us with Apple and Sammy leading the charge... nobody benefits from fewer manufacturers - it just reduces the choice for us, the customer (and ultimately stifles innovation) as if there's no-one to challenge them, they'll eventually put the brakes on and start to incrementally change each year (like Apple do now) as opposed to truly challenge and inspire...

I will however say you cannot blame Samsung for HTC demise. Do you think Korea makes up for the entire consumer market. No. There is Europe, the US and all other countries which HTC failed to satisfy.

HTC is class, Sure it's expensive, the Sales of the One-X has been impressive. - The problem lies in the mid-range phones? They have placed the Desire Series in the mid-ranage category, but the specs they offer compared to samsung of the same price range are lower. It's not like they are not trying but they haven't got it right?

WIPI was just a way for Korean companies to get an upper hand over foreign brands. Most people here who worship Samsung though, won't bring that up or don't know that about their cult leader.

Really I think HTC did dual mistake in same time anf because of that they fall to this very bad position. first they entered to low end devices and destroyed their brand value, second they decided to be just normal!! they have no bold pros and have a bold Weakness (Their Camera performance). they build phones with good quality material but there are other phones with better performance attached to their High quality handsets like iPhone, Motorola's, SONY's and ...

Already 2 years ago we (HTC owners at the time) hoped this would happen, when HTC spewed out defective phones and their European service returned defective units without even looking at them.
Many HTC models wasnt even troublesome, they were downright nightmares, its not something victims forget so easily. HTC could have avoided this some years ago by replacing the defective phones, but they could not afford it, and now they already lost more than a fair and square handling of this would have cost. The brought the bad reputation on themselves, its well deserved.

i always wanted to buy htc phone, but once i saw the battery life, i just gonna say goodbye to this phone, so i think htc should improve in battery life, especially when they wan to provide large screen with high graphic phone
