Anonymous, 02 Aug 2021Where did you see a periscope camera? The article mentions ... more4x would be at least 96mm.
Unless sensor is extremely tiny like the 1/7" used by Find X3 Pro, you can not have it parallel with the other.
It has to be periscope.

I think this phone would cost $ 1000. That is why I love Huawei phones. Huawei p30 pro was a best phone in terms of camera quality 👌

Anonymous, 02 Aug 20211) Nexus 5x and 6p use same cam of HTC10. 12MP 1/2.3"... more1) sensor size is irrelevant here
              2) The Pixel 1 had basically the same camera as the Nexus 5x. The image processing, sharpening and colors in the HDR+ On mode were also nearly identical as far as I know. The Nexus already had the Pixel look, which I really liked. Though there was an update in 2016, which led to slightly worse skin tones. The worse white balance, the artifacts and the more aggressive noise reduction likely began with the Pixel 3 or Pixel 2.

              4) Very bright photos are also possible with a shorter total exposure time (HDR+ enhanced) or with a shorter exposure time per frame (HDR+ enhanced).

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2021Where did you see a periscope camera? The article mentions ... moreIt looks like periscope because the zoom camera hole is rectangular.

I'm excited to see how the cameras perform for astrophotography mode, especially since they changed their algorithm for it as well.

Google decide to add a curved screen just as they're going out of vogue.

                    Yup sounds right.

"Only" 4x zoom but it will probably be good thanks to Google's software. Fingers crossed.

It could be exciting, if the periscope camera of the Pixel 6 can be used in astrophotography mode (though, the total exposure time would have to be longer).

                                2) since Pixel debut in 2016, google realized that boosting contrast of colours gives impression of better texture. Also increase sharpening fools costumers as well.

                                3) google knows that the approach of unrealistic photos is far more popular. You can easily use one phone for blind test and pretend to use 3 or 4 phones, play with brightness and WB to fool people. The ones brighter and warm tones will earn more votes.

                                4) longer night mode is to make scene brighter, almost like day (still dont know reason for taking photos of very dark places).

Hopefully, Google fixes its camera software issues.
I have a Pixel 3a and a Nexus 5x and the Pixel 3a camera is a huge disappointment.
-The Nexus 5x in its HDR+ On mode (not the default mode) has a much, much better white balance, much more accurate colors. The 3a never achieves the right colors, when I take a photo of a sunset. The white balance of the 3a is also extremely inconsistent. The Nexus produces more accurate skin tones, too.
-The machine learning digital zoom of the 3a looks extremely artificial and produces wrong detail. It also makes dead, white pixels visible.
-The spatial noise reduction of the 3a is more aggressive.
-Night Sight is very bad: It takes up to approximately 7 seconds and leads to slightly blurry photos, unless I stop breathing because the exposure time is often 0.5s-1s per frame. HDR+ enhanced is much better and faster than Night Sight, but Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 don't have it.
-no dynamic range advantage over the Nexus, actually the Nexus has less blown out highlights occasionally, it was really a revolutionary phone
-the main advantage of the 3a is the better low light performance in HDR+ enhanced mode and the zero shutter lag HDR+ mode, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages

At least not in the way Google wants it to.
Thay polished it from generation to generation, and new one must have been written from scratch.
