ishreal, 02 Aug 2021That's actually not always the case even with APS-C vs... moreI'd never buy a Fuji camera. I don't like the X-trans artifacts. Many smartphones already suffer from artifacts (for example Quad Bayer high resolution mode), so I don't need a large camera that suffers from similar artifacts.
But otherwise it's true that sensor size is very overrated. Sensor size doesn't affect the image processing (spatial noise reduction, white balance, tone mapping, multi frame noise reduction, etc) or the exposure settings and many people don't seem to understand that even a full frame sensor can only capture the light that goes through the lens. Everyone can test the effect of capturing more light by using a manual camera app and by choosing a longer exposure time.

Like, "bokeh". The first phone to get that right most of the times is the S21U. Simply because they dropped the artificial blurring in favour of multiple lenses that creates the effect naturally for zoom depths going from 0.6x to 10x.

I like the look of this, but Google, I am begging you, PLEASE don't give up on smaller Pixels. I'm a little more lenient in terms of compact (6.3" is my max, any bigger and I can't use it one-handed easily), but from the looks of things the Pixel 6 looks to be at least 6.5", which exceeds my max, and definitely exceeds other people's max. The Pixel 4a and 5 are such great sizes, please don't let compact lovers down Google.

The X-T4 produces world-class images that are used by some of the best photographers out there. Using the word "crap" and Fujifilm in the same sentence immediately discredits your entire opinion. You smartphone fanbois know jacksh!t about real professional photography gear.

What I don't like is that Rick Osterloh or some journalists (The Verge) try to rewrite Google's history. The success of the camera was never due to machine learning. HDR+ exists since 2013 and does not rely on machine learning, but on physics. Combining more frames leads to more light, this leads to less noisy images. Even Marc Levoy stressed that. The image processing looked very consistent because it didn't rely on machine learning.
In 2016 Google began to use machine learning for its digital zoom (results were slightly artificial and were not better than traditional digital zoom). In 2017 it was the portrait mode. In 2018 it was the white balance (which led to a very bad color reproduction and inconsistent behaviour) and they made the machine learning zoom more aggressive, which led to very artificial results. In 2018 they also started to brighten faces, which also leads to artificial results or worse skin tones occasionally. Since 2018 they use machine learning in order to correct the perspective distortion of faces, so they guess how a face should look.
So Google's machine learning rather ruined the results. The success was never due to machine learning. Google just wants you to think that.

I found the Pixel 4 and 5 to be very disappointing. While they weren't bad phones, they were definitely too expensive for what they delivered. I found the competition to be simply stronger, except if you want good customisation, aluminum backs or if you generally like the Google design. Battery life on some was also good I guess.
However, the Pixel 6 (Pro) will come with a new chipset, so will customisation be worse now? If yes, I hope Google can actually deliver with their new plans. Also their new camera system seems promising, way more than before! Overall the phone seems much more of a competition in terms of performance rather than just relying on its name. I'm also interested if other factors will be competitive (display, audio, build quality etc.). Google seems to be trying to improve the hardware this time. I'm not the biggest Google fan, but I have to admit their software is well-made sometimes. Now let's see if they can nail it this time.

ishreal, 02 Aug 2021That's actually not always the case even with APS-C vs... moreFuji APSC like X-T4 does not provide better IQ than even crap apsc from Sony (same FSI sensor from 2013) let alone Full Frame.
Only good Fuji cameras are the medium format, the GFX lineup.

Import taxes are huge scam.
While ago I got something on ebay.
Import tax was 20% on the total price (product + shipping).
Something I want on Amazon had import fee of value higher than the product.
I hate Amazon.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2021Pixel 2 was first to move from 1/2.3" to 1/2.6". ... moreThat's actually not always the case even with APS-C vs full frame. There are many comparisons that show Fuji APS-C can beat out Sony or Canon full-frame in some scenarios, but that also largely depends on the lens. The bigger the format though, the larger the camera and more intricate/expensive the lenses are, which contribute more to the performance than the sensor size in many occasions.

I don't really care about the pixels. It's nice to see what new they might bring but in my country I can't buy. I have to buy it from the German site which is annoying or I have to pay 200€ extra on the already unreasonable price. Take last year from example, why would I prefer a pixel 5 instead of a real flagship like the oneplus 8 pro, S20 plus or (my favorite) p40 pro.

No, 25% size difference is not irrelevant. Impact is huge.
Smaller is always worse.
This is why iphone has worst ultra wide. It is 1/3.6"
This is why Iphone 12 Pro cant match 12 Pro Max, why S21 cant match S21U.
This is why phones lose to 1" that loses to 4/3 that loses to APSC that loses to Full Frame that loses to Medium Format.

JoXim, 02 Aug 2021I think becouse current Google alghoritm is way to week to ... moreNew TPU is just pure BS, just marketing.
They made custom silicon for Pixel 4 XL but they also put the same system on Pixel 4a which had SD730 with their own weak ISP.
And both 4a and 4XL took the same picture quality.
So this TPU is just pure bluff
Next year when pixel 6a comes it will use off the mill Snapdragon 7 series processor and will shoot the same as custom Tensor SoC Pixel 6/Pro.
