Im not sure what they are trying to do but it seems to me they are trying to merge two models into one unit although alienating a group of die hard note fans altogether.

I will not buy Zflip3 but .... it's only because I want to buy Zflip4. I stlill have my s10 which I love and which will get One UI. 4.0 in comming months until that time zflip4 will be available. Don't get me wrong Zflip3 is GREAT DEVICE, it covers all I need from smartphone The only hickup is battery life and lack of fast charging. But battery life can be fix with software optimization and fast charging I suppose I will have it on Zflip4.So I will wait one more year and than Zflip4 is my device of choice. I don't buy Zfold because I don't need a brick

Hopefully next generation comes with a wider front screen as my fold 2 front screen is really hard to use

Chopsticks, 16 Aug 2021You REALLY need to get out more mate, no seriously1: What do you know about me?
I could be in a pub, with my laptop, seating at a table with my friend, laughing at you.
          I could be agoraphobic.
Or, I could be in a wheelchair.

2: If I don't go out, then what? What will it change?

3: Outside of being mean/disrespectful, what reasons do you have to say that?

4: During a global pandemic best fought by people respecting social distancing, this is an awful suggestion.

Acorns, 16 Aug 2021Why are foldables supposedly 'the future'? Not ev... moreMost of everybody needs bigger screens. Phones completely foregone ergonomics because of the love of bigger screens. Right now they are unusable one one hand, barely pocketable, big slabs of metal and glass and silicon.

Steve Jobs completely failed in his prediction that people care about ergonomics and portability. They don't care about the first at all (we live in the era of most unergonomical personal devices) and they barely care about the second (as long as it is pocketable it is good enough). Literally people going around with bricks, it would have looked comical 20 years ago, it is what old people did back then ... *because* they don't care for anything other than screen estate.

So foldables push screens to be even bigger. They will sell like hot cakes, only issue they don't currently is price. Once they go below $1000 everyone and his dog will have one. Yeah, they are even bigger , even uglier ... people don't care, as long as they double the screen estate *and* remain pocketable people will buy them in droves.

Non foldable phones would have the fate of what we once call regular phone (and now we call mini phones), nobody would care.

You will be the minority, better yet you will b one of those saying "I always liked foldables". Those (few) I know to have used foldables cant go back to the mini screens of regular phones. Mini screens are low bandwidth data transmission basically, nobody likes them, merely use them because there is nothing better.

Eventually screens as a whole would seem irrelevant, we will get direct to brain feeds, but that's at least one generation away. Rn it's all screen real estate increase babeh!

The fact that you only get the massive repair discount if you pre-order is a bit strange, considering that info is hidden quite well. The full price for a screen replacement is now higher than buying a Galaxy S2 outright back in the days...
Though, I pre-ordered my Flip 3, so I'd get a replacement screen for around a hundred bucks.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2021I bet you'd change your opinions if Apple announced a ... moreWhy would i change my opinion? I'm fan of compact size phones, so if i would want foldable my only choice would be galaxy flip style device, but why would i want to unfold my phone everytime i want to use or look something from it? It's one extra step to use your device. People use and look their devices very often nowdays so it would just get more difficult than it is now.

Like i said, foldables doesn't fix anything and they just bring new problems.

Phones and form factor which we now have are best for most people and that's not going to change. Apple wouldn't change that either, they would still be niche devices for niche usage.

Preordered a Fold 3. I've been wanting a larger screen on my phone for media consumption but I also dislike hole punches or notches that detract from the screen. The Fold 3 is the first generation that meets those criteria, excluding xiaomi and huawei's foldables which have software not designed for the west.

Why are foldables supposedly 'the future'? Not everyone wants or needs a tablet or a tiny phone on a daily basis, personally a 6.5-7 inch slab like we currently have is perfect for doing everything that 95% of people need in a phone. I'm not saying don't make foldables as they have their own upsides and people will buy them especially when the prices drop and they inevitably get slimmer and lighter but I hope manufacturers don't try and phase out the traditional form factor as it's still the one I'd choose for daily stuff over a foldable.
