Was looking forward to this phone for months as I have the original Mi Mix and love it. Wanted the Alpha and would have paid double what Xiaomi wanted for it but alas they never released it.
Honestly I'm disappointed in the Mix 4. The screen is noticably worse than other flagships, the design isn't spectacular like the original was. In fact it is very similar to my wife's OnePlus 7 Pro on the front which also doesn't have a cut out selfie camera but a fantastic retractable one. This isn't even a full screen phone. The screen to body ratio is worse than many older flagships.
Ended up buying a Mi 11 ultra instead. Call me when the Mix line looks like the Alpha.

I like it! Not because of not heaving the lens visible, but because this solves an complete other issue. I video call daily for long hours, and my opposite always stares down on the screen, as do I. So we both don't look into the camera, but looking down. If the camera is under the screen, preferably 1/3 from the top, than it would make people look towards eachother, into their eyes, which improves the natural feeling of the conversation. Same like you would look into the camera, knowing that this way you really 'stare' into the other caller... But nobody keeps staring at the camera....unless you're a journalist:)

I could live without a selfie camera. Honestly dual rear camera setup with good quality is enough!! No macro and anything else is required too!!

Ill never buy gain Xiaomi becouse they cancel android one program on Mi mix 3 5g.I have also technical issues with camera.

Go and buy one of the other 99.9% phones out there with notches, holes, teardrops etc.. I own poco f2 pro for 1 year and I've used the selfie camera 2-3 times. In my case what is the point in having a hole in the display which I'll be staring at ALL the time I use my phone and in the same time I'll almost never actually need it? There are different people with different needs so saying that something is useless in general is nonsense, it may be useless for you but in my case it's useless to have a hole drilled in my display.

For me who like having a fullscreen experience AND not having a useless camera constantly looking at me, it is useful!
Why? Because idiots of your kind gave it a bad reputation by constantly spreading dramatically exaggerated lies about it, often using the same buzz words "fragile", "weight", "thickness", "take space", "durability", "waterproof", "IP rating", "moving parts", "cost" and other things that have been long TOTALLY DEBUNKED as PURE EXAGGERATIONS.

There isn't such thing as "emergency selfie", but there is such thing as privacy, which is much more important than video call and other selfies, that front facing camera are greatly contributing against, mainly the UDC.
If you want so much to do those, just DON'T buy the rare phones that could be made without front camera and leave it be.
It isn't because it is not a product made for you that you have to try and destroy it.

You know how people cover the camera on their laptops? I wonder if this underscreen camera makes it clear when the camera is being used or not? That would be useful in today's world

I need double selfie camera, if the camera.if visible or not is not a problem for me. I don't understand this approach of hiding the camera under the display, it's as useless as the pop up selfie camera. Why there's no more pop up selfie camera phones?
