Just noticed that on a different website someone incorrectly calculated the f number of the Pixel 6. So here again the correct answer:
The f number is 1.9, if they use the Gn1 sensor. (It can be calculated because Google revealed how much light per time the Pixel 6 captures, unless the Pixel 6 has a different behaviour regarding vignetting or transmission than the Pixel 5)

Wezz, 12 Aug 2021Samsung is gaining ground, soon it will kill Sony on the sa... moreThat's some delusional thinking right there, especially if they wanna go the route of making 0.65um sized pixels in a sensor that's less than 1-inch.

Huawei canno... moreWrong, it is the same Sony IMX 700 / 707 1/1.28" size sensor since P40 Pro and upcoming P50 Pro+ should use new Sony IMX707Y which will be 1/1.18" size sensor.
OmniVision don't even have a 50MP sensor that is 1/1.28" size.

YUKI93, 12 Aug 2021Vivo and Xiaomi also use Samsung sensors for their flagship... moreGalaxy S with combo Exmor + snapdragon is superior to Isocell + exynos version.
This is not just the better ISP from Qualcomm cpu.
If you compared raw files from both sensors (obviously with same specs), exmor is always ahead.
Ultra Wide of S21 series is imx563 (main camera of xperia 5) , not isocell. Even on exynos phones.
Difference is not much, but considering isocell is cheaper than exmor counterpart (and omnivision is cheaper than samsung) few OEMs choose to buy from Samsung or omnivision (few chinese phones use 8MP omnivision for periscope, like vivo x series).
Considering jpeg is lower quality file than raw. You basically do not see difference.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2021Something about the picture used in the article: I like the... moreThey're both hideous IMO. I'm not a fan of the two-tone look and I don't like this huge ridge across the back of the phone. I think a centered square island would have looked better if their goal was to make the phone not wobble on a table. Personally I don't use my phone on a table.

YUKI93, 12 Aug 2021Are you sure it's an OV50A? I checked out the spec of ... moreYes it is. GSMarena still dont have the confirmation what hardware its used, therefore just put it the same size as previous P40.
Its unfortunate for Huawei, but luckily saved by its advance ISP. No RYYB as well, thats why they need the Monochrome in order to capture more light in lowlight situation.
Thats why the theme for P50 series is 'Legend, Reborn'. Everything in it is a fresh hardware & not like from its previous scheme.

PorkHotdog, 12 Aug 2021Huh? What's wrong with samsung's sensors?Whenever I watch a review of a phone with a 64MP Samsung sensor then one from the same manufacturer with a 64MP Sony sensor the Sony one always looks dramatically better especially in low light. I think it's a taste thing, but there is a reason why most flagships are using Sony sensors. I hope Google can bridge the gap with their ML.

At this point, it's more about the image processing algorithm. It's the same reason why two identical phones with an identical chipset and an identical main camera don't produce the same photo quality.
