Besides, they are still flagship chips.
A last generation flagship chip will always be faster than current generation mid range chip.
China phones are providing flagship cpu at mid range price.
Google is doing the opposite.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2021Most of the features in new version of Android already exis... moreI completely agree with you. Stock ROM skips practically all the useful features that are more likely to be present on other Android skins (irrespective of whether they are light or heavy skins).
People who brag about stock ROM being better usually lack experience of using different Android skins (especially skins from 2020-21).
Being a retailer for different phone brands, I know what I am talking about.
I have used all type of phones as daily driver in the past decade.
About 30-40 phones over a period of time, mostly flagships.
In 2021, I'll rather use one ui, miui, zen ui ,color OS based Androids over stock OS which lacks latest features and is basically playing catchup.

The MI dialer/Mi contact app has been replaced by Google dialer/ contacts on the global ROM.
I am using EU ROM which is based on China ROM, so I don't have to deal with Google's dialer.
Even on global ROM, one can install Mi dialer, but they'll need root.

You cannot say phone would be much different in price.
Those $300-500 with 865/865+/865++ have many cuts to reach this price. Inferior components compared to expensive models from same OEM.
CPU does not determinate price of phone. I can slap 888 inside Galaxy A02s, it is not gonna make phone cost over $700.
Trading 888 for 780 is not gonna make phone $200-300 cheaper.

positive reception?? what is wrong with people? this phone is the size of a frying pan, ugly, with exynos processor, with the price tag of new ferrari.
the only good thing about it is new camera.

LG used 821 in a flagship 700$ phone (at launch, as was tradition the price quickly halved and made the value mich better but reviews judge a phone with its MSRP in mind)

Larger phones are bad to carry around. Many are too heavy.
But they give better experience while watching videos, playing games, video chat etc.
