Google, you are NOT Apple! Google NEEDS a top end flagship phone. There are many Android phone companies with excellent features, super fast charging, great prices, etc. Who buys Google Pixel? I do because I like getting the latest Android version first and it takes really good night time photos. My Pixel 4xl takes forever to charge, even with a Google fast charger. Google NEEDS to be a leader and give us more stuff in the package, not be cheap. AMD was dying because their CPUs were ok performance, but cheap. Now, they are the best performance and not cheap, but everyone wants one. Same with Apple, everyone knows they are top performers.

It's better to have ultra fast charging, albeit proprietary than being stuck on 18W-25W slow charging.

Also when buying a separate charger , you generate more waste with the packaging ... and separately shipping a new item.
Honestly the only reason i can think of actually keeping a charger is if you lose, break your phone , if you sell it you sell it with a charger. And keeping it is meh nowadays, since charger speeds change on a yearly basis (unless you are crApple).
Bullshit to sell more stuff tbh...

And they include the charger in the box. It's not like phone with VOOC charging won't charge at all using PowerDelivery or QuickCharge charger. It'll still charge just fine, just at slower rate because it's different power delivery standard. In the end you'll be able to fast charge such phone with included charger and some random charger that you got in your hands when you didn't have original fast one around. I don't see an issue with that. It's why I mentioned all the proprietary fast chargers from Chinese companies as a positive thing. Because they need to include it.

All these flagship that comes without charger are most hard-to-repair devices due to complexity of circuits. Moreover, they don't have 3.5 mm jack, too. That means you're probably gonna buy a Bluetooth device which will be completely irreparable.

I think this move makes sense, in terms of producing less items whose production involve a lot of environment damaging chemicals. But I hope they will charge less for the phone.
It also seems like they could charge less for the phone, but offer a charger for a nominal extra fee, $10 or $15. That way those who need it, at the time of purchase, can get one. But it costs enough to dissuade people just taking and extra one for no good reason.
